You get what you pay for. That's all I have to say.

Not really. $199 is good for a gaming console - $299 at launch is exceptable. $399 and $499/$599 is outrageous. The $299 Xbox 360 is a good step but still not good enough.
And $59 for the games? What game on the Xbox 360 is worth the extra $10? None. It's the high development costs due to all this new technology that is costing the extra money. Nintendo was right to keep out HD as only 3 people in the world care about it (and yes that is an exaggeration, obviously).

I think the saying isn't meant to be used this way. You get what You pay for, so when i pay for fun i get fun. Hmm. That doesn't work either.. that saying is broken :|[QUOTE="cheezisgoooood"]You get what you pay for. That's all I have to say.

Actually most of the games for 360 are worth the extra $10 over the Wii games, in my opinion :P. Presentation and online has a lot to do with it.
360 costs more to make than you are paying for the system, meaning Microsoft loses money on every system you buy from them, whereas Nintendo makes loads of cash off of the system they're giving you because it's cheap as hell to make, since the technology inside it is extremely inferior to the 360 and PS3 offerings, which technically means you're getting less than what you pay for with the Wii, but I'm not here to argue about what the Wii is worth, I'm here to argue the fact that you're lucky games even cost less than $70. Developers could easily rake in the cash by making them much more expensive. I once heard a developer call the $60 games a "gift" to gamers as if it were a favor, considering how much it costs to make a game with the presentation and scope of a game like Oblivion, Mass Effect, or Halo 3.
People act like $60 is bad, but the fact is, it could easily be a LOT worse.
Wii can be pretty expensive if you wanna play 4-player games.XenoNinjanot if you have other friends with the wii. my friend and I both have 2 controlers and wii can go four player any time. a single extra controler is not very expensive. (its only 10 more than he sixaxis when yu include the nunchuck) the wii play bundle is a great deal. do you not have friends with the same console?

Lol, here in NZ just for 1Â wiimote and a nunchuk attachment, it costs $150.00
that's $600.00 for 4 controllers. I don't always wanna keep bringing the friends over so I can use there's.Â

but seriously that sucks for kids (and poor college students like me) I mean it really put me back putting down $400 for the 360 and the $59 for games doesnt help (I'm not gonna complain about XBL because its only $1 a week) I didnt have nearly as much trouble deciding if I was going to get a wii. Why would I care how good the graphics are if I cant even afford to buy the games. Dont you get my point?
Concerning gaming prices and to back up my opinion in the first post a bit,
i think these people here have discussed gaming prices nicely.

I was watching that and he brings up movie ticket prices - well the box office has been down the past 2 years, and there hasn't been a "biggest movie ever" since Titanic, so yeah people are mad about the ticket prices.
And he also says the games are richer in content but I don't see how. Gears of War is only like 6 hours to beat (for me) and the multiplayer isn't anything I've never seen before, so $60? Most 360 games are worth $40, much less $60.

Thats rediculus. I could see the prices being a little more (say 80 US) but that kind of price hike kinda seems like price gouging to me[QUOTE="XenoNinja"]not if you have other friends with the wii. my friend and I both have 2 controlers and wii can go four player any time. a single extra controler is not very expensive. I feel the same way about the 'richer content'. I can understand the dev costs increasing exponentially, but I nearly quit on gaming the last 2 years. The Wii does shed some light on games for me personally, but hasn't really shown anything yet.[QUOTE="laughingman42"][QUOTE="XenoNinja"]not if you have other friends with the wii. my friend and I both have 2 controlers and wii can go four player any time. a single extra controler is not very expensive. Is that in US currency? Pretty ridiculously high. How much are 360 controllers? I just want to see a comparison. I can see your point - PS3 has Blu-ray, Cell, etc. etc. to make it cost $599 but are those really necessary? CELL is great and all but I am sure Sony could have went for a cheaper solution, as with Blu-ray. Would it force me to switch discs? Sure, but I did that for Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII - I am sure people won't mind for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII.
This has to be the most ignorant assertion made by gamers. By your logic, the 3DO was the greatest console in history. :|You get what you pay for. That's all I have to say.

Wii can be pretty expensive if you wanna play 4-player games.XenoNinjaya, wii does have the most expensive controllers. but on the bright side, there havent been nearly as many controller add ons as i expected. but suppose that you slowly gain the money back after buying cheaper games and saving on online fees.
I don't mind paying more for quality and value.
When you look at what things cost in this day and age you want the most for your money. Wii may be cheap but you don't get too much for it. PS3 and XBOX 360 provide alot of value to the customer, they cost less then what they cost to produce. This is good for the consumer. Wii costs MORE then what it costs to produce, this is bad for the consumer because you are being over charged by Nintendo for what amounts to a gamecube (a console nobody wanted last gen) with a new controller.
Nintendo is good at disguising lack of quality hardware with a fancy new controller, I'll give em that.
Plus don't forget the Wii is selling you two controllers. The wiimote and the classic controller, and most would agree that if you didn't own a gamecube (And who did really) you probably want to get the classic controller or the wavebird for VC and non-wiimote games.
So thats a Wiimote for motion sensing, a classic controller for VC games, and a Wavebird for Gamecube games.
Thats ridiculous.
