i thought that the 4870 X2 are roughly two in one. In that case it would make sense for it to be a crossfire setupBestest evar.
And it would be in Crossfire, not SLI.

Anyway wouldn't the competitor try to up them (if however slightly) by putting 3 GT280's in their console? It'd be able to play Crysis on max (ultra, not very high), although it probably still wouldn't hit 16xAA 16xAF, or settings higher than that. Depends how much memory it'd have.Bestest evar.

3-way SLI is a big pile of bull. There were some tests, and 2-way SLI actually beats 3-way SLI.
Yeah, I know. Beats me too.

You thought horribly wrong.
And if they could manage to do that it would just be a PC with a different OS that is called a console.
That's basically what consoles are becoming anyway, they're just a computer in a cool looking box and practically does every single thing a computer does just at a worse standard.[QUOTE="Saturos3091"][QUOTE="Crystal-Rush"]i thought that the 4870 X2 are two graphics cards in one. Hah, didn't know that. That's strange.[QUOTE="Crystal-Rush"][QUOTE="IgGy621985"]i thought that the 4870 X2 are two graphics cards in one. 3-way SLI was doomed from the start, you had to have 3 GTX's or 3 Ultras in order for the damn thing to even work, and im sure not many people had that much money to spend on GPU's.
Nvidia was so stupid, they should have done this with lower cards and the idea MAY have stood a chance.
It doesn't matter if a product is the best thing in the world, if it is too expensive no one would buy it. The enthusiast market may be interested, but if you are that type of person you would prefer PC anyway.
For consoles it would be useless, that audience wouldn't pay the price tag.
Terrrible, if you put them in a console size case i'm sure they'ld overheat :Pmarkop2003I've read about the overheating problem with just one 4870x2. People say you need a third party cooler because the stock cooler doesn't do the job. Imagine 4 of those together? You could probably roats marshmallows over it.

Which those temps are good and my card is OCed to hell and back.

/There would be a big blank screen because the console would melt due to the intense heat.BumFluff122Yup. You would need console cases to be as big as a Lian Li/Silverstone/Antec 1200 size cases.
[QUOTE="Timberwolf5578"]Ok if the GT280 is more powerful, then how about four of those in SLI/Crossfire?thefsmlol
ZOMG! WHAT IF THERE WAS 42 OF THEM?!?
They don't have support for 4 of them and they don't plan to make it. Also the scaling from 1 to 2 still needs to be worked on before they can be serious about having many cards.
HOLY **** YOU FIGURED OUT THE QUESTION!!!!! *universe explodes*
