If they made a Ps3 withot blu ray for $349- $399 would you be happier?

I have owned a ps3 since day one bro (just downloaded Jumping flash on my Psp! lol. I just follow the industry trends and realize when people are making mistakes.)

By the way download Jumping flash from the network if you have a Ps3. Its an old game from the Ps1 days but still a great game (more so if you wanna be a mecha bunny!)

I'm old school. I like consoles for games. Games first. By the way Sony also messed that up with the Psp. If they would have made the Psp do a bit less and play more games then It would have beat the Ds. (it would have needed to come out at $199 mind you)

You know I really wish that Sony would have made the Ps3 without blu ray cuase it would have been a whole lot cheaper. and no i would not take a a ps3 with out blu ray in it, that just makes it feel more last gen, plus i wouldnt be able to play gamkes like mgs4, ff13, gthd, rfom,uncharted. and plus i love watching hd movies on my system.

I would probably own one a bit earlier, but I wouldn't be "happier". I've seen Blu-ray in action on a Samsung HDTV, and frankly it's a thing of beauty. I would consider it a very nice luxury for the asking price, although I can see why people who just want a games machine wouldn't want one.

Probably not. At first yeah but theres alot of movies I want to get on in Blu-Ray in the future like Rush Hour 3 and The Bourne Ultimatum.

Its looking like Blu-Ray is gonna be the winner in this format war, every commercial I see with movie releases is only Blu-Ray or DVD. It never mentioned HD-DVD.

If there was no Blu-Ray then cows would be forced to download extra UT3 maps like lems because there's not enough room on DVD9, lol!

Also, the PS3 version of Stranglehold couldn't have the game AND a fully high def version of the movie on the same disk.

Don't take it the wrong way. I've graduated from college. I'm sure such a smart man/women as yourself will also have no problem buying a $600 console after you receive your degree. Good luck this semester!

Without Blu-ray Sony would of used Dvd's like MS and been held back because of space, ofcourse not all games are bigger then a dvd but if you look at blue dragon which takes multiple discs and then gears which also needed to cut content because it wouldnt fit on the disc.GarchomPro

You're right. Sony made the smartest move this gen in adding a bigger size format for HD gaming, but people are unwilling to pay for the cost.
