I hardly doubt the Wii will still be on top in sales after next year or even this year maybe because most people unless they are sheep or kids are bored with it after a week or two. I wouldnt call it a winner and people dont see it in frist place now.

You dont think the Wii will be top in sales? Please, explain how this is. Considering the fact it has consistently outsold both other current gen systems and still experiences shortages.
You wild generalisations only demonstrates your fanboyism.
Whether the games are good or bad depends on the individual though. Too many people on SW think they can decide what is a good or bad game for everyone else. Case in point - many people are not MGS fans, me included. Yet its critically acclaimed. Doesnt mean everyone will like/enjoy it though.Quofantrue however you can't tell me that the wii ins't missing out right now. there are a ton of great 3rd party games like gta4 and so many more that won't ever come to the wii. the mian things keeping the wii going a games wise is the first party titles however nintendo can't just relay on that

The Wii is missing out on some games, the other two are also missing out on some games. But at the end of the day, it is the 3rd parties to blame for releasing shovelware, even though it doesnt sell, They are just not putting the effort in. They then say that Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games, which is a complete myth. If it were true, its only because 3rd parties wont lend appropriate support, and the cycle continues. But eventually before this gen is up, I believe there will be a wealth of support, like what happened to the DS. Mostly encouraged by the rate of sales.
One very significant reason the PS2 got so much support last gen was due to the number of sales - 120 million. If the Wii can get about half/two-thirds of that, then Nintendo will have support on a par with the others by the start of next gen.
1st off. Wii sells more 3rd party products WorldWide than 1st party apart from Japan! Your theory of only 1st party selling is just a lie. 2nd off i've owned aWii for over a year and played Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, RE4, RE:UC, Mario Kart, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, MK Armageddon:Wii, WWE Smackdown 2008, Zelda TP and several others but i have just woke up so brain isnt working right yet! Now i wanna play games like Pro Evo, Zack and Wiki, DBZ3, Boom Blox, SSBB which should last me untill September!
Wii has the best quality games in my opinion.
last gen had a PS2 and sales were not 'that' important to me, was busy playing games... this gen got a PS3 and have a Gaming PC, and again i dont care 'that' much about sales since am too busy enjoying games...
I dont mind Wii winning in sales the so called 'console war', i respect Nintendo, but personally I never was and never will be interested in their console (Wii)...

Shame im 23 and still not bored with it. You dont need to call it a winner its capable of doing that all by itself. The Wii has started getting 3rd party games so no the momentum wont stop so PS3 or Xbox can catch up! It sold with poor 3rd party support so imagine whats going to happen with good 3rd party support? It will only get better.

I dunno... your opinions very arguable like Zack and Wiki was an obvious sales bomb for the wii. and if you look at the best selling games list for the wii it's Nintendo>Capcom>Shovelware=third parties. And it has been like that since the dawn of time for Nintendo. Capcom has always placed second in sales when it comes to Nintendo system. So far there has only been 4 third party non-capcom games that have ever broke 1 million and some of those aren't really good either like Carnival Games, and Red Steel.

I've probably played more games than him this gen on my Wii, and it really irritates me when you hear people saying "Wii has no good games except Nintendos!!" because that's just so untrue, I've played probably 50 Wii games, and only 4 or 5 I would score below a 7 (which if you check GS is good, but on System Wars I suppose it's ultimate flop, super fail, because only AAA games are worth playing) the thing I do is rent, I got one of those online rental service subscriptions, so I pay 10 pound a month (1 game new costs 40 pounds so it's a great deal really) and I can usually play about 5 games a month, which is perfect really, means you can rent the games like Warioware that are short but still really good, and not have to worry about being bored once you've finished it.

That's pretty biased view!
Zack and Wiki is a budget title that sold at $40 when it came out with almost no marketing campagin what so ever. Since the Wii is so easy to develop for, the game doesn't need to be a million seller to earn a profit! Besides, click and point adventure games haven't seen the light of days for ages now. If you put this game on the x360 or PS3, it would've bombed even harder!
By January of this year, it was approaching 300K in sales. By this time, it probably topped over 500K! VERY NICE for a niche title and Capcom already said more than once that the game met their expectations very well.

Yea but are some of those worth paying 50$ for? even 40$? thats why people have these standards of i will not play anything less than 8.0 except for some very minor exceptions. And rentals are also pretty hefty too, i mean isin't 10 pounds like 20 american? in three months you could have gotten a Halo 3, Gears of War, MGS 4 quality game for the rest of your life instead of playing several "decent" games for only 3 months.

Can i have your source? I dont have access to NPD let alone International data of game sales.
500k is like breaking even, and that doesin't include, what how much is Zack and Wiki now? 20? 30? bucks off of Amazon? From a consumer stand point thats only about a 10$ price drop but from a buisness stand point thats 25% less revenue. Which is stripping off 1/4 of like tens of thousands of dollars. Not very good...
Also yea your kinda right that Zack and Wiki would have failed harder, but dont you think a No More Heroes esc game would have sold better on the PS3 or 360? Those games from suda51 seem to target the gamer who wants a more deeper experience in games.

Sorry, no link, not anymore anyways since the data is from January. you can try and dig it up from Google.
And the 500K part is for X360 ONLY!!!! Many developers already said the Wii is development cost is around 50-70% less for the HD consoles. The simple fact that you do not need to develop in HD alone can save you around 10 million for a big budget epic title. No need to "Thread" programs to take advantages of multi-cores also saves a lot of headaches.
This is why Wii games only need to sell around 250K to make the money back. HD console games requires 500K and in case of PS3, upwards up to 750K (Ridge Racer 7, Namco). Throw in the money for marketing, that's why you need to sell 1 million copies on the HD consoles to make a profit. Wii games on the other hand, with marketing campaign, will require only up to 500K if not less to see green! And since Z&W didn't see any serious marketing campagin......
As another example, the original Trauma Center on the Wii sold only around 300K lifetime. If this was on the PS3 or the X360, it would've benn BOMBED!!! But since it's on the Wii, it became the biggest money earner for Atalus ever and warranted Trauma Center: New Blood. Wii games doesn't need to sell 1 million copies to be successful, in fact, some games likeZ&W doesn't even need to sell 500K to be successul, like Boom Blox. I mean just how much it requires to make a puzzle game with simple graphics? Not much (and rumor has it that it took only several guys several months to make the game).
Again slightly biased!

Well i have nothing to say to that since that is a valid point other than good for you that you choose the system which you have the most apeal in, but by your logic no system in existance could be called a "winner" simply because the game lineup is to everyones taste. Why are you even here in System Wars then as you cant exactly establish a firm arguement with facts rather than opinions and your philosphy for gaming is the winner of a system is who the individual decides to be? Yes, I can see it now, "Bu....Bu....but you can't play TeH SaLeZZZ!!!!!", "Bu....Bu...But Wii TeH nO GamE-Ga!!!! It's TeH Fadaga!!!"
Well, guess what? Sales is the only true "Objective" factor that measures how popular a console is among the competitors because it measures just how many people around the world is buying it, placing it in their living rooms, where they will buy games for it, which makes developers happy since they are earning money, which cause them supports it in some way (whether shovel ware or good game is besides the point in this argument), which will cause sales to grow further!
This is why the PS2 was the undisputed winner last gen. But even then you can still hear some people who argue that the Xbox or the GC should be the winner because games on there appeal more to them! But in most people minds, the PS2 crushed the Xbox and GC. Why? there are 120 million reasons why, just like there are over 28 million reasons why the Wii is the winner and more reasons on the way too! You can't argue with numbers but you CAN argue with something abstract, such as "Which line-up is better!"
P.S. And as for sales, as soon as it turns in their favor, the so called "Sales doesn't matter to me" cows and lemming will throw them around like the second coming and say how it matters! As soon as it goes in the other way, they ignore it and goes back to, "You can't play sales..." Fanboyz......
At the end of the day (or generation) whoever argues that the console which sells the most, despite not having the best games is 'the winner' is obviously warped.
We're all gamers here, and we should only care about sales so far as they bring us more games. Sales are a means to an end. That end is games. To rate the means above the end is insane, it is the epitome of what it means to be a fanboy.
Now, let me end this saying I'm not attacking the Wii. I actually don't think it'll end up with the weakest library of games (and it doesn't have the weakest library now) but even if it does sell the most, and has the least for me to play, I can't see how anyone could fathom it being the winner.

I'd rather play 15 AA games than 1 AAA game, plus I can still rent the great games, I'm the kind of gamer that doesn't keep games for very long, I'm not all that interested in online I use my PC with Counter Strike when I wanna shoot people, so most games it comes down to the single player and most singleplayer games like Gears aren't that long and I probably wouldn't reply them. Generally what I do is buy a current gen console, then when the next gen of consoles come out I'll buy a PS3 or a 360 and play all the great games for super cheap, no waiting for them to come out. I've done that this gen with the PS2 and it's awesome, playing all the great games and buying them for like 4 pounds instead of 40.

P.S. And as for sales, as soon as it turns in their favor, the so called "Sales doesn't matter to me" cows and lemming will throw them around like the second coming and say how it matters! As soon as it goes in the other way, they ignore it and goes back to, "You can't play sales..." Fanboyz......
But this gen doesin't look like the PS2 dominance, where it was 120 vs 23 million. In fact by the end of this i think it will end up in a 50 40 30 million. Wii sales should peak soon, PS3 should catch up, and if Xbox 360 hits in japan with their JRPG line up it might gain something too. And there are a lot more factors to consider when saying a console is a winner. If you compare exclusives then yes the wii is the winner, but if you compare one consoles library like the xbox 360 to another consoles library like the Wii, then the game starts to get a little dicey. There are obviously more games AAA-AA-A games that you can play on the 360 apposed to the Wii, but there is less exclusives. how is this? The wii is not a PS2 where you can shovel in graphics into a box. Since the tech is so diffrent exclusives for the wii stay exclusive, it's like a closed system where the wii cannot give out games to say the xbox 360 and PS3, but at the same time cannot gain games from the Xbox 360 and PS3. Therefore you see Xbox360, PC, PS3, multi platform games as apposed to 360, PC, PS3, Wii multiplatform games unless the wii version is severly comprimised in the form of CoD3 and soon to be 5, as well as Spiderman 3.
Bottem line, this console war is a much tighter race and i predict there will be no clear winner.

This is where you go from reality into VIRTUAL reality!
1. The Wii's userbase world wide is already at 28 million by now....How the hell will it only end up with 50? Nintendo already said they will be shipping another 25 million from the end of March this to end of march next year! For the Wii to sell 50 million life time, it would have to stop selling starting this month and not sell through the end of this year. Then starting next year, for the next 36 month, only sell around 50K or so every month! Yea, the likly hood of that happening is about 1,000,000,000,000,000 to 1!
And haven't cows and lemming had enough with, "The Wii won't sell. It won't sell at launch....It will stop selling after launch...It will stop in Summer of 2007...It will stop before Christmas.....Halo 3 will end the fad......It will end at in 2008......It will end with GTA IV.....It will end with MGS 4." If all of these can't stop the Wii freight train, what else can?
2. For the PS3 to catch up, it would have to make up a difference of around 14 million! At the current rate of sales, it will be until around 2015 before the PS3 makes up the difference. Let's just say the Wii stops selling FOREVER, and the PS3 sales jumps to 500K every month from now on, it will still be two years before it makes up the difference! Which is tantamount to saying it will be the start of next-gen before PS3 pull EVEN with the Wii!!!! That's how far behind it has fallen!
3. JRPG on the X360.....If Blue Dragon and Lost Odessy can't do it, just what make you think SO4 and other can? The Japanese gamers has already spoken, X360 is the outsider looking in and will always be! How will suddenly some games do it? The only games that can do it, that is, get the X360 a toehold in the market is FF (mainline FF. FFXI or side show won't cut it) or DQ! But that won't happen until the X360 gets a userbase, which won't happens without those games.....Which won't happen unless FF or DQ shows up on the console....Which won't happen unless X360 gets a userbase....You get the picture!
What you said above just show people how botched your argument truly is! If this is end of 2005 and before E3 2006, then you'd probably be right. But after almost 2 years sinec E3 2006, things has switched so fast that it took everyone by surprise! "All three competitors being even" is nothing more than a dream right now. Just about everyone has come to accept the fact that Nintendo, like the PS2, will slaughter EVERYONE with the Wii! Wii's pace is around 25% FASTER than the PS2 and there is nothing to slow it down and no, "The fad will end" will not cut it! Unless you got something truly tangeble....like the courts of the world will stop the Wii be sold or something like that, the Wii will just keep on trucking! Only inside the insane mind of cows or lemmings will the Wii stop selling and the PS3 and X360 catch up! But reality has always shatter those dreams, just like last gen with the PS2...
P.S. And just show you how bad it's gonna get, Nintendo has already upgraded supplies to 2.4 million a month. When Nintendo sells around 25 million units by end of march next year, the Wii established base will be 50 million.....And if Nintendo keeps on selling 25 million units a year, by the end of march 2011, Wii will break 100 million, a full 9 months before the PS2 did!
