[QUOTE="Stowik"][QUOTE="Spider-Jones"] A quick look at some of the best selling Wii titles goes to show that that this myth that the Wii is primarily purchased for old people and children is busted
Galaxy, Brawl, RE4 Wii edition, RE UC, Red Steel, Guitar Hero
I'd say the cold harsh truth is that the Wii is primarily being purchased by the 120 million ex playstation fans who jumped overboard after PS3 tanked

First of all, I haven't heard that the Wii was for young people and old people only. Some people may claim that, but as far as a respectable news source I've never heard that.
Nintendo did make an effort, from a Nintendo exec interview I read, to bring in non-traditional gamers with the Wii. But that doesn't mean traditional gamers don't like it.
HOWEVER, the reason I'm responding here is your comment that "the PS3 tanked".
I just bought a PS3 and a Wii a couple of weeks ago. They are two very different gaming systems; they each deliver a different gaming experience and have different features...in a way, I don't see them directly competing...it's almost as if this generation of consoles has fragmented the console market...it's more developed...
We have the HD camp, who own either 360s/PS3s, and then the Non HD camp, that would most likely buy a Wii...
The Wii has a huge novelty appeal...I've met people who would never have bought a console in the past who bought the Wii just because it is so unique. These people would never consider a PS3 or 360, most likely.
At any rate, for the past two months at least, the PS3 is GAINING momentum, if anything.

The victory of Blu Ray over the HD DVD format will probably only help PS3 sales going forward.
Nobody knows the future...obviously...so anything could happen. I just have a hard time believing any of the big 3 consoles...360/Wii/PS3 have "tanked".
A console can only be compared to its predeccessor when determining its success or failure, and thus far, in every regard, the PS3 is a complete and utter failure when considering its the follow up to the PS2Nah, I wouldn't say its a faillure. Sony has very tough competition this generation. That wasn't the case last-gen. MS and Sony are pretty much struggling for the 2nd place. Fighting for exclusives etc etc.
