If Xbox 360, PS3 etc are next gen, PS2, etc are last gen, what is current gen?

I am getting quite annoyed at the moment, because people still seem to be reffering to the current generation of systems as next gen. Why? It became current gen as soon as the Xbox 360 was released.

Last gen:

Ps2, Xbox, Gamecube

Current gen:

Next gen:

Xbox 360

PS3

Wii

Can someone please fill in this gap? There would seem to be no current gen consoles on the shelves at the moment...

Now that all "next gen" consoles are out, "next gen" and "current gen" are the same thing. People will typically still refer to PS3/360/Wii as "next gen" until all previous gen consoles die out, or until they are no longer selling in numbers worth caring about.ZIMdoom
