It's the games, if XBOX360 sells so much more it will steal ps3 exclusives and get more games. Some devs might even make 360 exclusives that would otherwise be multiplatforms.
I bought a PS3 for Sony's first party exclusives. No problem with me if third party exclusives go multiplat, unless it ruins the quality of the game.

I didn't think of it like that before. Good point, I just want RE5 to be 360 exclusive and all will be well :).Well lets see. In Japan PS3 is outselling 360, In America 360 is outselling PS3 and in Europe its pretty much equal.
Both consoles need to fear the Wii actually.

OH NO! The big bad 360 is putting on his gloves and mask and is out to steal exclusives.. I didn't know consoles could do such a thing

Yawn...there will be no mutliplat exclusive exodus. That's just some crap spewed by blogs. In the the end, the multiplats love money. So, unless Microcrap want to subsidize all 3rd party revenue, it wont happen. Plus, the 3rd party devs have more freedom to make games for all three platforms. What happens it that a 3rd party dev will release a game that does good on one console. Then, the market slows down and saturates. Then, they release the same game again on another platform. So, at spead their franchies over all consoles. This is the way it's done for surviving in this market. Without that independance, it would not be possible for that 3rd party dev to make money. Plus, there's risk too. Many 3rd party games are duds. And who pays the bills on that one? It sould be the 3rd party dev. Not console maker.
Actually I hear worldwide PS3 has a marginal lead.
Dunno how true that is however.

Well, considering that the PS3 is big in Europe and Japan compared to the 360. Yes, that's true. M$ tries to put out FUD reports from their fake blogers and of course American's are most susceptible to it and not the rest of the world. It's the "fox news" effect. Most Europeans and Asians know that Sony will put out more games and HOME will be awesome. But most American's are kind of slow on this fact. Oh, well...figures. Most voted for Bush.
Just like most American's are waking up to the war. They too will wake up on the M$ propaganda. It only works for so long.
HD Games are expensive to make, the reality is that the combined install base of the PS3 / 360 is far more tempting than either platform is on seperately - at least, it will be in the long run. Games like Rainbow Six: Vegas gain popularity on both platforms, and that can mean more money for developer. We'll see how this plays out, but it hurts Sony fans quite a bit.
Why?
Until the install base of the PS3 is large, there's not as much incentive to bring "semi-exclusive" games - games like Dead Rising, Lost Planet, and Bioshock - over to the PS3. These games won't be moved after a certain "window period" anyway - ie. an older 360 game like GRAW won't be ported to the PS3, simply because (as an old title) it wouldn't sell very well. This is bad for PS3 owners, the slower the PS3 gains sales, the more "multiplatform candidates" (games that might have come to both platforms) that will remain exclusive to the 360.
For 360 owners, the poor PS3 sales are a boon - games that were being made exclusively for the PS3 are being quickly ported to the 360, which is beneficial - the library of games for their system grows.
For someone in my position, who waited on both systems, I'll be picking up the 360 towards the end of this summer - sometime in July / August before Blue Dragon is released... and I'm currently frustrated with the PS3. I'd like to own both systems, but so far the PS3's distinguishing characteristics are being reduced further and further to media functions. Without a strong library of exclusives, it doesn't make sense to pick up the system just yet.
Perhaps in 2008?
Sony is in a catch-22, until the PS3 has more unique games to offer, it cannot sell well, but until it sells well, it will not get as many exclusive titles.

And my sig tells the tenative numbers. To quote someone from the other day "If you're third in a race of three only your mommy tells you you're a winner."

To add to that, while PS3 IS outselling 360 in Japan. It still has not even hit the 1 mill sold mark. Compare that with the PS2 that sold 700,000 or so consoles in it's very first week.
Wii has taken over Japan.
Sony WAS dominant in every region, now it is dominant in none.
Yawn...
Even if the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Japan, that's only about 17% of the world market. And did you forget that the PS3 is now selling less than 10,000 console there a week now.
North America makes up around 45% of the market, a much much bigger market. The 360 is outselling the PS3 by over 2 to 1. If I was a company, I would much rather have strong sales in NA than Japan.
So...PS3, you keep Japan, the 360 owns NA. And from prilimanry reports, the 360 is also outselling the PS3 now in Europe. NA and Europe, 360 owns the 2 biggest markets. War is over!!!
And to keep the Wiinies happy, yes, they are outselling both the PS3 and 360, but really, who cares????
