If you could describe this generation in one sentence, what would it be?

I would describe this generation as the "Nostalgia Generation." Lots of remasters and remakes and we saw certain franchises like Resident Evil make a comeback this gen. There seems to be lots of pandering to the previous generations. I guess having better hardware allowed people to enjoy their favorite games in a higher FPS or resolution. We also saw backwards compatibility become a hot topic again. So yea, that's my description. How about you, SW? If you could describe this generation in one sentence, what would it be?

It was alright.

Battle royal infested micro transaction nostalgia mediocrity where the only revolutionary thing VR is being completely ignored by the masses because they are broke gamer's who just spend $1k on a new iPhone.

Improved 7th gen with remakes. and thats it.

I dont know, for consoles i think it was really bland and long winded. Thats why i was mainly gaming in pc, it was just crazy blaaaah

I don't think Tencent and the Western/Japanese companies are directly firing each other yet on the surface. Tencent has gradually gained a large share of the video game industry without directly fighting. Instead, Tencent have friendly "invested" and "acquired" the opponents. We, however, recently see some proxy wars such as "Epic vs. Steam" and "Blizzard's Hong Kong protest fiasco," so it is getting hotter as you said for sure.

but on japanese side. it make me RE fan. RE7 is best in series and village will be even better.

Favourite generation since 16bit one.

Impressive, but nowhere near as good or perfect as the 7th or 6th Gen. I get the feeling each gen gets less games coming out or theres less to it. PS certainly had some epic exclusives where the Xbox didn't, but both did really well in there own way.

I have no idea how can something think 7th gen is better than current gen as 7th gen had

• Splinter cell conviction/blacklist ie worst SC games ever
• Hitman Absolution the worst Hitman game
• Resident evil 6 the QTE game
• tons of COD clones
• Health regen, 4 hour campaign.

Of the systems, the WiiU and XOne were both crap so it was pretty boring from a "System War" pov, and while there were loads of great games there wasn't too many that blew my mind. The best games felt like refinements and enhancements of prior gen titles and genres, not so much epic new ones. The biggest novel craze was probably battle royale, which are great, but I'm more of a single player gamer. And VR makes me sick unfortunately. So, not very exciting for me, but still plenty of fun had.
