One that hasn't already come out? Well BWII not only one of the best RTS' ever(my fav genre) but added longevity with awesome online multiplayer. ;) I think I'm the only person going to post thi game.
Well seeing as ive never played half life 2, despite enjoying the original and planing on buying it for ages, i supose half like orange box, because its got quite a bit of longativity for me, but seeing as its not one game i supose its kind of cheating, so then i supose mass efect, or assasins creed, or CoD4 depenidng on what turns out best, but being a big bioware fan id say Mass Effect.
If I could get my hands on the rumoured sequel to jet set radio future called jet set readio next then that hands down (I can hope :P) but otherwise I guess out of the games I know are coming out this year probably eternal sonata
Smackdwon vs Raw 2008. I always play those games the most being I'm such a HUGE fan of the WWE and with my friends we create our own Superstars and have a league with them which we use up until the next installment. We have been doing this since Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain and the storylines and Superstars have carried over since then. :)
If Orange Box counts as one game, I would choose that. I have titles I'm more excited about like The Witcher, but you can never really predict how those turn out, with Orange Box you're bound to get quality and have some fun.

But some people prefer overall experience over longevity. :P
I dunno, if I was to pick only one game from a year to get, it woul have to be the one that I'll play through the generation and beyond, rather than a game I'm going to put 20 hours into and never touch again. It's the difference to me between Bioshock and Halo 3.
