What would it be and why?
For me.
Probably the sims 3.
Different families= unlimited replay value.

Yeah thats true.Ouch.
I would give up gaming, because that would be easier than having to choose from all the awesome games.

Released now? I'd hate to say it, but World of Warcraft.
There's no doubt in my mind that they will keep releasing updates for this monolith of a game for years and years to come. Whereas any other game, they might introduce a few updates but if they make a sequel or the company works on a new project, their first one will be forgotten. This is where MMORPGS shine because of all the variety that comes into play and how long it'll take. There will always be something new to accomplish and because this is the biggest game due to the biggest fanbase, it'll continue to be updated.
Released later? FFXIV.
So moral of the story: Only 1 game for a lifetime? An MMORPG that will be updated for a lifetime.
[QUOTE="MickeyTheNinja"]That's a hard/impossible question I think. I'll pick the upcoming Halo Reach.TheDogoutYou got huge balls choosing a game thats not even out yet. Uhh not really, improved story and mulitplayer will have so much replay value to me.
something with a big open world to just be able to enjoy the scenery from time to time and still have great gameplay and missions
so either WoW or oblivion
but ultimately prolly WoW....the amount of content in that game is astounding to me still to this date...dudes have been playing for 5 years and STILL haven't done everything
I agree i'm not a big fan of MMORPGs but world of warcraft has ALOT of replay valueReleased now? I'd hate to say it, but World of Warcraft.

Anyways what's TAOD about? I haven't downloaded the demo yet, and the combat looks somewhat similar to a roguelike/tactical RPG.
Yandere
The combat demo is, well, just that, and it was good and all, but it's the other aspects of the game that really interest me. I mean, don't get me wrong, I appreciate good tactical combat in my RPGs, but ultimately I don't see it as being that big of a deal, so long as the content is good. Arcanum's combat pretty much sucked, and I consider that to be one of the best RPGs ever made.
AoD is shaping up to be sort of a Fallout/Arcanum type of RPG, and supposedly features some serious division of content (ie, actual role playing), lots of diplomatic options/paths/solutions (play through the game without killing anyone? Hell yeah), multiple ways of handling situations throughout in terms of gameplay, quest resolutions, dialogue, etc.
Basically, if you like the sorts of RPGs that actually let you role play, then AoD is probably your wet dream. I'm really looking forward to it, and I think the devs have a pretty good shot at pulling it off.

I don't care if a RPG has tons of roleplaying or not, as long as it's fun I play it. I'll keep my eye on it though, but if I do buy it it will be a while from not (I have a lot of games to get).
Everquest is dead. And wasn't as great as WoW imo.So many choosing WoW...why not take it's superior older brother, and Gamespot GoTY Everquest.

Even though I've never played it before (and probally never will) World of Warcraft. At least I'd know I have 100s of hours of gameplay
