Right now, there is the 3 yr warranty coverage for RROD. What happen if it happens in the 4th yr. You use it for 3 yr, no problem and then one day (out of the blue) on the 4th yr, you get a rrod just like that.

Would people be willing to paid to have it fix?

Just curious... DISCUSS

I don't have an XBox 360 and don't plan on getting one, unless Banjo Kazooie 3 is as awesome as the first two.

If I did, however, then it would all depend on how much the new XBox 360 costs, if I still want to play it, and if the XBox has backwards compatability and I plan on buying it. I mean, there are a lot of changes in four years, so I would have to know a thing or two about the future first.

But probably, especially if I have a lot of games on it.

Nope. Dunno how much the reparations are though... it always depends. I remember when my Ps1 broke the laser didn't work, I called sony they said the reparation would cost X $ Don't remember the exact price, but it was close as hell to a new Ps1 price, I said screw it and bought a PS2 since it was backward compatible and all that.

plenty of time before that happens. depending on when MS fixes the RROD, maybe they will extend the warranty.

I'm really pissed at microsoft right now because I currently have been trying to get my 360 fixed for a month after getting RROD on chistmas eve (still awaiting the arrival of the box) well I received my first box and reutrn label wasn't included, I called and they said they'd send me an email It took like 2 weeks to get the email out of them which is rediculous and then when I got the email the link had an error and I had to call them again I requested that they send me a whole new box and it's been like 4 days since I've called them and I'm still waiting on ti, if I don't get it back tomorrow I'm gonna call them again. But yeah, if I got it on the 4th year there's no way in hell I'm paying to get that trash fixed, I'd just ditch the 360 all together.

Not really. The ps3 is a very solid console. If you have to send your ps3 in for repair ist probably your fault.

If you want people to answer that question, maybe you should create a separate topic on it. If you don't want to answer this question, then why bother posting.

Maybe. But extending the warranty is a good thing but really, it points to an admission of guilt.

I had to pay $90 to fix my PS2 on two separate occasions so I would not have too big a problem forking over some money to keep my 360 running.

I eventually went through 3 PS2s over the course of six years so It's looking like I will go through two 360s in the same amount of time.

I guess I'm just a sucker and put games ahead of common sense. What can I say I'm an addict.

If they fix the RROD, they will probably extend the warranty for old 360. It woundn't be right if after the 3 year they pushed all the people with old 360 under the bus.

This is why I didn't purchase it. I don't want to put up with these uncertainties. If it breaks down in years 1-3, can you imagine what years 4-5 will look like after heavy gameplay?

Awful. Just awful.

But that wasn't the question. The question is, after having a console for 4 years what will you do if it breaks?

The problem with this thread is it isn't thought out well at all. it's just another attempt the bash the 360's RROD. If your 360 lasts for 4 years, you've had a pretty good run. A much better run than some people had with their Playstations in the last 2 gens. the fact that the PS3 is a spectacular piece of kit means nothing.

So wait, just because I don't share the viewpoint of the TC, I'm not allowed to debate that this thread is a poorly disguised attempt to further run into the ground a point that has been made thousands of times?

Why in the world did he put the word "Discuss" in the post if that's not what he wanted to do? I never called this thread stupid and I answered his question. You said it yourself "It's system wars" Well, what do most people do in SW? They bash systems and they debate. Some are better at it than others. Deal with it.

I'll answer that. They will pay, because they paid before MS dropped a billion dollars to extend the warranty.

Let me clarify my position here. I think the 360 hardware situation is abysmal..But lets be honest and stick to the topic, If you bought anything that you use on a normal basis 4 years ago, and it broke and was no longer under warranty, wouldn't you just replace it?

There are too many variables. But yes, most likely. Unless the repair cost is too close to the cost of buying a new one.

Or if the Next Xbox is close to be released.

Either way, another MS product would be bought.

Not a chance. I'll either just buy a whole new 360, or a PS3 (assuming I didn't already have one). I just got my 360 in nov., so by the time my warranty runs out there won't be a lot fo the time left in the gen anyways (At least for micro, presuming they launch early again). And I'd rather not have micro fail horribly at fixing my console

[QUOTE="heretrix"]What will you do if the PS3 breaks down after one year? The same rules apply.gatorteen

Not really. The ps3 is a very solid console. If you have to send your ps3 in for repair ist probably your fault.

That is a very naive statement. Everything that comes off an assembly line has some defect. The industry average for home electronics is around 5% I believe.

Depends what year it is and how long it is until the next xbox (hehe nextbox they should call it that) will come out, and how many games i still have to play. I wouldnt worry about it to much though, many many ps2's have broken numerous times over the years.

Well if it was that easy, why would you wait 4 years for it to break? You really aren't thinking this through are you?

Well seeing that the ps3 has a failure rate of .3% that scenario is irrelevant

No manufacturer reports their failure rate. Sony's is most likely closer to 5%.
