In all honesty I'm not sure why people would buy a console if they have the money for a good gaming PC. Lets face it the Xbox 360 is nothing more than a very low end pc, there is no technology inside that makes it unique Vs a cheap pc. The PS3 is slightly better IMO and I would purchase this simply for the games on offer that I cant get for my PC, also despite the hype machine being spurned by Sony about the cell it is actually something special. http://www.devhardware.com/c/a/Computer-Processors/Cell-Inside-the-Future-of-Processor-Architecture/ I think this tech will be in the PC within no time and were already seeing i7 processors with similar power. If, like me, you like shooters that a PC w/ KB + mouse with an ultra HD screen is your best bet IMO.

For me personally I don't enjoy PC gaming , I think your answer lies in personal preference. I do however play a little WOW now and again. The rest of my gaming is on consoles.

This, unfortunatly, I have to agree with. Sometimes setting up a game can be a hassle but the end result is well worth it.

Because using a mouse and keyboard is rubbish, patching/installing/figuring out bugs is an irritating waste of my time, sitting at a computer desk sucks, playing with PC gamers in general sucks, playing solo sucks, the exclusives suck compared to console exclusives, online sucks I'd rather not have to worry about if i have the right maps downloaded/mods installed bla bla to much effort.

It all sucks. That's why.

Remember some of us have more important things to worry about than our stupid computers and generally don't want to come home and have to jump through hoops to do anything when we can just sit down press a button and play immediately. And yes i am aware a lot of my problems have a solution but once again a console solves them all out the box. I generally do not care that the PC looks better or has mods. I'm really..REALLY not interested.

All IMO of course.

I understand where your coming from and I'm hoping soon with blueray 3 we will be able to run the PC from whereever and be playing it like a console on the TV with no wires. One thing thoough, dont you think consoles are becomming like mini pcs? You have to constantly download patches, errors springing up, online focus with DLC and mods (except they charge you for them)

Jekken6

Actually Mirrors Edge and Assassins Creed (to a lesser extent) are better on PC than console. Especially Mirrors Edge, considering it has PhysX enabled for it and the mouse gives you much faster reflex movements. Not to mention you can use controllers on PC so there isn't much difference.

For the original question, some people prefer ease of use over anything else, that's why they prefer consoles. Me, on the other hand, have lots of spare time, so why not build a PC and have the best?

xbox 360 might seem weak technology wise but you have to consider the fact it was released in 2005 and at the time it was released, it was pretty high end. i like console gaming, if i get a pc for gaming it will likely be a laptop and not desktop but even then ill stick more to console gaming

some reasons (from a convert from PC gaming to console gaming)

1. every PC is unique, therefore you will ALWAYS have problems with something or other when installing patching etc.

2. PC's have a lot going on in the background that causes it to lag, freeze, whatever.

3. I dont have £2000 to run a £30 game like Crysis.

4. PES and FIFA are better on consoles (I sink many hours with my friends into these 2 games).

5. A console works pretty much out the box, a PC doesn't.

No matter what people try and say..Not matter how many times PC gamers try and convice others..PC gaming is just more trouble then its worth. Now go ahead and jump on me, tell me I dont know anything about pcs or im too lazy to learn and try this and that...Its going to happen anytime people disagree with PCgamers.

BUT keep in mind I LOVE LOVE LOVE my pc. I also repare and build pcs..If im not doing house chorse, or cooking, workingout, working..Im on my pc. And my 2 boys are on theirs and my wife on hers. WE all LOVE PCS here.

Gaming on a PC is good for free maps, online play, mods ect ect...And the pc is awesome at many other things I use it for. BUT for gaming its just a pain and tiresome. It will NEVER take the place of my consoles.

Cause I'd have to upgrade it every 6 months at the very least- and though I could do it myself I don't see the reason to bother with it.

I go home, turn on my console and play. That's much easier and stress-free

i prefer CONSOLES over PC because :

- I started gaming on a console (sega-master system) ages before i even played the first prince of persia on PC

- I prefer sitting in my couch and playing on my TV rather then sitting uncomfortable at the desk and playing on a way smaller monitor

-Like playing on Gamepads , yes i know PC has them as well but somehow they arent good there because , most games aren't designed for gamepads anyways , most PC gamepads are crap

- Its cheaper ( if you don't pirate your PC games of course)

- Way better exclusives

You know why we still buy consoles, is because who cares about slightly better graphics on the PC when I don't like RTS' and much prefer the consoles anyway because of their exclusives. For me I tried PC gaming and it was alright, but I much prefer having 2 consoles instead (PS3 and Wii), moreconvenient imo and has more exclusive games I want. But even so your logic's flawed because your basically saying if you have the money buy a Virtual Boy over a GB pocket because it has better graphics and basically costs more so you'll seem cooler with it.

Honestly, TC, what kind of silly question is that? It boggles the mind how many times you see posts similar in nature to this one, where people dont seem to get it that alot of people truly spend their money on a console because they WANT IT, not because they dont have a choice. Wow.

1.kbam own any controller made don't blame your lack of hand eye skills on the pc get a wii

2. Game on pc just work they even install the patches automatically don't know what games you were playing in 1999

3. All the kiddies are on console with their pottymouth's

4. There are more gamers online on 1 or 2 games than all of the consoles combined and they have skills

5. Exclusives lol that is just to funny to even talk about if you don't know ask somebody

I play consoles and even my psp but we all know the PC is King!!!

1.Hassle to get everything just right. 2. Maybe I'm a little impatient, I like starting up a console and seeing the game in my face within 2 seconds. 3. Lack of comfort. I'd rather play Xbox on a large screen tv on the couch instead of sitting infront of a desk on a much smaller screen. 4. I prefer controllers over keyboard and mouse... sure K+M has way better control, but you can't beat the comfort of a controller. I know there are loads of setups for PCs/Screens/ USB controllers whatever. I just don't have the time to fuss with the mess, I don't play "hardcore" so console is right for me.

its all personal preference, I find PC gaming a hassle, some might not...its all based in your opinion, I just want to sit down press a button and play the game. its like asking someone why they bought a Ford when they could afford an Audi, the Audi may cost more and be of a higher quality, but some people want a basic Ford that does the job

My only thought on the subject is this.

I needed a computer, but because of how cheap you can make a pretty decent gaming rig I decided to make it so. I mean, I've always liked PC gaming, but it's not like gaming consoles, and such don't provide you with good games. Now I have the benefit of owning a gaming PC and the consoles, so it's win/win for me.

simple, games....

pc has better fps and rts experience....but i like more games than just that.

the hassle of drm, and hackers on pc multiplayers makes it a less enjoyable experience imo....

i was a kb/mouse player but i got used to the analog (took me a month) pc is a viable option but most genres feel better with a controller (logitech don't cut it for me)

He is talking about the technology you genius no current processors have technology that matches the cell people started using the cell in super computers.

and about why buy consoles can we get great rpg games like the lost odyssey , WKC, ToV, SO4 and valkyria chronicles on pc can you find games like Yakuza and RE5 on pc the answer is simple PC gaming is for FPS and RTS fans only if you Are one of these 2 genres fan then yes why buy consoles.

we don't all know that cell isn't special...you and a handful of fanboys don't think so....but ps3 has the best looking games soo far compared to the 360. the only reasons why the ports aren't looking better because lets be honest...360 is dominating the ps3 sales wise...so no need to make it up to the ps3 standards if 360 is the lead platform

It's a hassle getting the money together to upgrade your PC when a game runs like crap. You don't have to worry about that with consoles.

If PC gaming wasn't full of so many road blocks and had a better library I'd happily get back into it. Unfortunately that isn't the case, so Ill stick with console gaming for now. I'd only go back go PC gaming if Deus Ex 3 happened to be a PC exclusive.

some reasons (from a convert from PC gaming to console gaming)

1. every PC is unique, therefore you will ALWAYS have problems with something or other when installing patching etc.

Wait, what? You can build a brilliant PC that will max Crysis with €700 these days. That's pretty good bang for your buck, especially when you consider that said PC will be used for many, many more applications than simply gaming.

For a long time I was only a console gamer, until about a year ago I began messing around with pc gaming. I started out just playing games like WoW and Counterstrike: Source. Ever since then I have grown to love pc gaming. I am only 15 but a half a year ago I saved some money and built my own gaming pc for only $600. That $600 pc allows me to play ANY pc game I want, including Crysis. I do agree with people that pc gaming is a bit more of a hassle but really it is not that bad. I have many pc games and I have had very few problems at all with installing, playing, patching, or anything else. Pc gaming is completely worth it. Some of the games are just simply amazing on the pc. Games like Counterstrike and Team Fortress 2 are constantly getting updates from Valve. When I get on CS:S I have tons of options of what I want to play. Whether I want to play the regular game modes, or mods like gungame, zombie mod, zombie escape, jailbreak, or whatever else, there is always something fun to do. For a game that came out in 2004, it still has a HUGE community, with fresh community maps and even mods still being made. The fun with PC gaming just never seems to end. With constant community updates and many unique servers, it never gets old. I've only mentioned two games, even though their are many others. Team Fortress 2 is miles better on the PC than the console version. Not only does it have mods, maps, and a much bigger community, but their are constant updates for the classes and the game is only $20! I know many people, including me, who have played that one game for hours and hours on end. On Steam this past weekend The Orange Box was actually only $10! An amazing package like that is definitely worth much more than that. PC gaming has- -Better graphics -Mods and community maps that add tons of variety. -Easier and more accurate controls in FPS games. -Cheaper games. -Bigger and more mature communities. and many other things too. Okay everybody this is all just MY OPINION. I don't mean anything personally, it's just the way I feel. Btw and I do have a 360 and still play it regularly with my friends.

I really don't know why I bought 2 consoles over a PC. Shoot, TF2 is better than any shooter available for any console by itself. Most of the 360s good multiplat games (Bioshock, L4D, GeOW, ME, COD4) are all superior on the PC. Oh well, I'll be getting one near the end of the year for Starcraft 2 anyways.

Why would I get consoles over a pc? I like Fable, Forza, Halo, MLB the Show, MGS IV, etc better then Crysis and (?). I like sports games, fighting games, and they **** on PC. I like sitting on my couch playing not at a desk. Though I may get a gaming PC when Diablo/Starcraft come out. We'll see......
