Why would you want a regular gaming computer(PC) that cost much more?

I see lots of cows saying they will play 360/PC games on the PC yet they own a PS3 which is a super computer which costs 599$ plus the price of a 1080p tv and then the price of a gaming PC 1400+ to play these games that will play on the 360!!!!!

Why not just get a 360 to add to your super computer(PS3) and save time and money?

Well, because a PC has other uses, for example I can't use a load of programs like Flash and Dreamweaver on a 360, or play my decent sized library of PC games, plus the fact that I can't browse the internet (which I do most often) half as fast on a 360 than I can on a PC. So the PC/PS3 combi wins out at the end of the day. (Which is what I have)

Ok , but you don't have to upgrade your PC all the time for "other uses" and you do for "PC gaming"

A PC is much, much more practical. I can do much more than just game. Not only that, but I think it has just a bit bigger library, with a few more games. Just a bit bigger. :|

The PC doesn't need to be upgraded all the time for the many uses and it does if you want to PC game. Playing old PC games all the time isn't for me and would rather play new fresh games and not something with a mod thrown at it/on it.

Maybe they already have a gaming PC so they don't need to consider buying a 360 since the games they are interested in are also available for a platform they've already invested in.

The ps3 is hardly a supercomputer. And there are many games on PC that will never work on a console.

I haven't upgraded my PC since last year, yet I'm able to to play games from this year. It will probably last me another year or two before I go and upgrade my video card, and that's it. Also, my system cost me 600 dollars Canadian.

Well if you don't have a Dual Core 2 you most likely are overclocking your GPU/CPU and you're turning the game settings all the way down.

I know three games that you most likely don't run at full settings with your current rig:

STALKER, SUPREME COMMANDER, and OBLIVION

How come PC gamers never admit that their hardware just doesn't cut the muster like Colonel Custer?

The PS3 is not a super computer. In fact if you are even going to call it a 'computer' rather than a console then it is a severely limited computer. If that wasn't bad enough the highest rated PS3 game (Oblivion) is also on PC with the added bonus of expansions and various player made material. Online multiplayer is also far better on PC than on your 'super computer.'

And there are a lot better games on the 360 that won't be on the PC for a long time(usually a couple years), by the time they may appear on the PC they will be outdated and I see no reason why a PC gamer would want them at a later time(example HALO 3)

First you might want to ask what a PC gamer would prefer, Crysis or Halo 3? When PC gamers have better, why would they be that bothered about Halo 3? I own both 360 and PC and personally Crysis is well ahead on my list of must haves.

Because the PC offers deeper titles that get supported by strong communities. Look at CS 1.6, TA, and Starcraft to name a few. You just don't get that kind of support on consoles.

Nope. I don't even have a dual core, cut some costs. I'm still able to get medium to high settings out of most of my games. Also, there are tons of people who like to play older games. It's not like as soon as newer games come out they become less fun. Look at CS. Its been around for about 10 years now, and I find it still just as fun.

Pc gaming does not sell as well in the software department as consoles does. I wouldn't be shocked if all game developers give up on PC gaming except for MMORPGs and move strictly to consoles

Wow. How many years have people been saying that? It's starting to get ridiculous. PC gaming will never die. Also, Halo being better than Far Cry is opinion, and no Crysis can't run on the 360 as the developers said that they couldn't produce the same visuals. They said they might make a different version, so basiaclly a gimped version of Crysis.

PS3 isn't a supercomputer. It may do certain tasks like a super computer...but it doesn't have the memory or general purpose nature to be good at general computing on the level of a modern PC. anyone with Linux still installed on their PS3's knows what I'm talking about.

read what? your uninformed post about cpu's?

you know nothing about computers if you think a 4200+ 64 fx cant run the games you listed in high settings (unless supcomm is being played on a 8 man map).

In fact, my rig proves you wrong.

so how bout you go back to sleep, cause you don't know much about pc's

oh and your comparison of ps3 and a super computer is laughable.

Well most PC gamers I see on here say that Crysis can run on a 7800GS video card witha computer that is within two years old, now if that is true then it can run on a 360 and even the PS3 if Crytek wants to spend a couple years making a version for it.

I personally think you are going to need a beast to run Crysis and it won't be as scable as some claim

Rainbow Six Vegas looks better on my PC than on my 360, so that logic is not necessarily true. What I don't understand is why you believe that a PC becomes obsolete in a couple of years. Once you own a PC that is higher spec than a PS3 it will always be higher. Whether or not you can play brand new games 2 years down the line on the highest detail is irrelevant, you will still be able to play the game at for it to run well. If what you were saying is true then 2 years down the line PS3 would be well behind the PC because of these new advancements that have made older PC rigs obsolete.'

Calm down herbert. I was referring to what Ken Kuntaragi said about the PS3 being a super computer and I very well know what a game like STALKER can run on.

You may want to spend some time away from Myspace and browse threw this thread a little better

I'll give youfour reasons and then I must leave

1 - on-line on consoles (well not the PS3) is becoming extremely fun and I actually prefer it to PC on-line gaming(that's why I spend the big bucks for my subscription)

2 - Gaming consoles are running in HD and will offer great graphics as they are now doing

3 - The price of hardware/software for PCsbeing overpriced for gaming

[QUOTE="TheCrazed420"]The ps3 is hardly a supercomputer. And there are many games on PC that will never work on a console.Neal_Gore

Only for graphics reasons. Far Cry is not better than Halo and if Crysis can run on your current rig it can run on a 360 which I wouldn't have to wait for since my PC is a high end machine which in a year or two will be approaching obsolete for games.

Pc gaming does not sell as well in the software department as consoles does. I wouldn't be shocked if all game developers give up on PC gaming except for MMORPGs and move strictly to consoles

4 - The ease of use with the hardware/software consoles have

 Funny stuff, but seriously?

Wow.

1) PC online has more players, dedicated servers and better communities. More variety in online games and FREE.

2) Glad the consoles finally caught up to PC's in that aspect, since PC gamers have been gaming in HD for ages.

3) PC games are consistently much lower in price than their console counterparts.

4) Until it breaks. Then you have no choice but to mail it in. Unlike a PC, where you can find your issue by proofing stuff out, fix it, and off you go.

PS3 a "super computer"? Maybe back in like 1989. Your average joe gaming rig can outpower a friggin' PS3. One more thing, PCs have been running in HD since liie.............1985.

There is one simple answer for this. Variety. Why not own some combination of PS3, 360, Wii, and/or Super computer. All of them have their own exclusives. A tried and true "hardcore" (whatever you may consider it) gamer doesn't limit themselves to one medium but is open to experiences on all. Simple as that.

A PS3 is NOT a super computer.

A high-end gaming PC is a super computer. My gosh...

The 360 has more games and better games, and the Wii has great games too.

So Wii60 and PC is the way to go right now. Gosh I hate it when hypocritical fanboys bash the PC with stupid points.
