I think that's a fine list. I'll write concise justifications as to why it is.
10. Resistance 2 - Bigger, better, badder sequel. A bigger jump from the original than Gears 2 was from the original. Heard it has mint multiplayer.
9. MGS4 - A very fitting ending to the MGS franchise. Quite literally put MGS into "next-gen" mode. It does not, however, stray far from its roots in anything, which is why it's here.
8. Braid - An indie game that does virtually everything right.
7. Little Big Planet - It's LittleBigPlanet, the community/platformer on a console. Should really be on any top 10 list.
6. Fable II - I have yet to play it, but from what I'm hearing, the emergent gameplay for this is quite astounding. It also takes some brave new approaches (no death), for better or for worse.
5. Mirror's Edge - Another game that takes brave new approaches. It's flawed, but it's certainly going to make an impact on future games to come.
4. Dead Space - Story, graphics, and gameplay all wrapped up in a gorgeous EA presentation that horror fans certainly can't miss out. Oh, it's also an EA game :?
3. Left 4 Dead - Arguably the greatest co-op game ever made. There's been nothing quite like it before, so it deserves this spot.
2. Fallout 3 - Perhaps the only one which confuses me for being placed in the top 10
1. Grand Theft Auto 4 - This game is definitely going to make its mark on all future games. The living, breathing world, the graphics, the story, the voice acting and presentation is all top notch. Every game going sandbox is going to be compared to GTAIV. Every other game wanting to make an epic experience is indirectly going to be judged against how well it fares against GTAIV. The game itself is pretty bloody amazing, and while it's not the perfect experience the "10" scores make it out to be, it definitely deserves it more than any other game out this year, even MGS IV.
Good going IGN.
