some cows say geow win in texture , but killzone2 win in lighting according to ign:D

ok, here is what ign said

quote:

While UE3 games like Gears boast realtime lighting for everything, Killzone 2's lighting scheme mixes realtime and pre-canned lighting for an extremely smooth and, frankly, extremely impressive lighting model. The art direction, what with its dark colors and overly-gritty feel, keep the game from looking "real", but that doesn't mean it isn't absolutely immersive. I will personally say that I can't remember seeing a more impressive lighting model than this. More realistic? Maybe. But more impressive? No.

They say its a combination of real time and pre rendered. They also say it is the most impressive lighting in any game they have seen.

From what we saw that was pretty much full dynamic lighting, sure you can use pre-positioned lighting (fixed light source) for levels but its all still dynamic on the objects (no reflective shadows from what i saw in that trailer), its just not like say stalker where the light source is always moving. Thats what he is trying to say but doesn't have a clue how to say it.

Thats why its impressive, its basically using the high level lighting from a game like stalker maxed out and putting it on a console which is damn impressive cause shadows are a resource hog in graphics.

If you really think that way, then Halo 3 definitely gets a 3/10 in graphics.

After reading this: "Indeed, it's quickly apparent that Guerilla has come much closer to the original trailer than most anyone thought possible. " They must be in panic mode.

I would also point out that the environments are destructable which in my book puts it above Gears as the lighting will have to make changes for that.

worst you've seen in a while.. well, textures aren't up to crysis stadard or gears PC version, but there is a lot that makes up for that.

and it's not a finished product.

anayway, video's so far didn't show mutch textures due to compressed nature. images are from video... so try to keep it real here.

We've only seen screens but I'm pretty impressed.

I think in motion this game will probably surpass Gears quaity graphics, but will it have quality gameplay too? Here's hoping it does.

I'm not saying that it's the first time I'm saying that GeOW didn't have destructable enviornments.

i think it proves the inefficiency of the ps3's gpu..

you shouldn't have to cut corners to try to match a game that came out a year ago....

oh well....at least it looks pretty... i just hope guerrilla learned how to create good gameplay since killzone and shellshock....

id rather be impressed then see something realistic. This game is not realistic and goes in a whole dif direction then gears, the lighting looks amazing, and the graphics look better then gears, and i cant wait to get my hands on it.

I think you are wrong. I think this proves that the PS3's GPU is not as weak as everyone made it out to be. It also proves that all those multiplats that look worse on PS3 is the fault of the devs and not the hardware.

Umm, Comparing GeOW to KZ2

We get the Sense KZ2 shows a bigger scale, and more action on screen.

So i Guess GeOW showed inefficiencies of THe Zenos

the topic title is a little wierd...as if the TC didn't read his own quote?!?

killzone 2 according to the quote uses a mixture of realtime and preset lighting, which results in more impressive lighting overall!
