oh ! looks like this game is going to be a big dissapointment, especially after reading the last part
The Stalker community, reacting to advance word that Clear Sky isn't the hoped-for triumph, are already saying post-release patches and mods will make it glorious. Yes, it's possible, and maybe even probable – bugs can fixed, balance can be altered. It'd be foolish to rely on it, however, let alone use it to vindicate the game's reactorful of misfires. Stalker was made so much more of by patches and mods because it was such an impressive skeleton of a game. Clear Sky, though, has so much decaying flesh attached to it that cutting through to the admittedly very healthy bone below may prove too tall an order.IGN
Then again since the biggest problem of the reviewer seemed to be the difficulty, i still think it could be awesome
Is it just me or is mosty the UK magazines and websites that are giving it the low scores?ONLYDODIt's only PC Zone UK, PC Gamer UK and IGN UK that have reviewed it i think.

this is exactly why you cant take PC gaming seriously. This game was talked about to the high heavens and now its a bust. Give me a break, I actually purchased the first stalker and that was underwhelming as well.

I heard of a lot of people hyping this... can someone please explain how this breaks the mold from regular old shooters?(i iz ignorant)TAKE_IT_BACK
yes you are, on a seperate note the reveiw calls it "possibly the most dissopinting PC games of 2008" :(... :'(
i might not end up buying this now, ive still not finished with the first one (Oblivion lost just adds so much repaly) so i shall wait untill it reaches bargin-bin status (sadly where i found the first one for £5, people REALLY need to expericence it)
hopefully this games undated engine will mean some more graphical mods for the fisrt one :D
Sounds like I'll be picking up Spore and waiting for some Clear Sky patches/mods to be released.PBSnipes
Have you experienced the orgasm-inducing greatness of merging OL2.2, ARSENAL 1.7z, and Weather Overhauled together? Pure greatness. At some spots I was getting seemingly Crysis-level quality visuals.

Roofles.
Wait what? I am still really pumped for this gamePC Zone UK gave it 8.8, and IIRC PC Gamer UK gave it 6.7.
Shadow of CHernobyl was awesome last year, (although Hermits kind of overrate it here and there). I still think the sequel will be better. What about other PC mag reviews?jg4xchamp
Expected. Again, people, don't listen to others opinions, please! Try it for yourself.BioShockOwnz
I am going to do exactly that. As I said, I cannot really give a damn about someone's opinion regarding this game when one of their complaints is that NPCs can now use grenades. Poor widdle baby...

Indeed, Enemies in CoD4 constant spammed grenades, yet that got 9.0 ... like some double standard... I hated the grenade spam on CoD4
Okay so so far it's the following:
PC Zone UK: 88
Games Master UK: 88
3DJuegos: 79
Edge: 70
IGN UK: 70
PC Gamer UK: 68
This is getting the same fate Shadow of Chernobyl has been facing. Lacks polish and carried a lot of bugs with some other gameplay factors.
Like I said before, love it or hate it.

ahhhh... the STALKER community, i share your hopes of i directX 10 features mod or something that adds some well needed extra definition to the original games. i keep getting my but kicked on Oblivion lost :?

Indeed. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. wasn't an easy game, so I don't know exactly what this reviewer was expecting. This is why I never let others opinions dictate whether I buy or pass on a game. If I'm interested in a game, I'm buying it no matter what. If I'm not interested in a game, then I'm not buying it, even if it gets 9's and 10's across the board.
Well so far the UK reviews have beenSo a 67 is bad but a 70 is good? 3 points makes it go from bad to good? Really?
88
70
67
1 bad
1 good
1 great
SO i say wait for more reviews
Like IGN Or Gamespot. and stay away from the gametrailers review. They are terrible when it comes to PC gaming..jg4xchamp

As opposed to the daily hyping of exclusive console titles? If one game getting hyped above its score means you cannot take the platform seriously, what does that mean for the infinitely louder console title hype?
"I actually purchased the first stalker and that was underwhelming as well."
Well I enjoyed STALKER, so did a lot of people, so your opinion isn't worth much among that crowd is it?

Honestly I haven't touched any of SoC's mods (other than float32). I had trouble installing an earlier version of OL and then I found out about the "true" ending(s), so I started a new playthrough before I got around to trying OL or anything else. Once I finish my "true" playthrough I'll have to check those out.[QUOTE="Verge_6"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Expected. Again, people, don't listen to others opinions, please! I dunno, the reveiwer seemed to be one of those people who loved STALKER and raved about it as much as we do. he called it "the most disspointing PC game of 2008" and "lacking atmostphere" that sounds like itmight be more than reveiwer prejudice and them just not getting it, i though he did a good job of revewing it and after that im thinking twice about purchusing it.:(
Wow, more butt-hurt reviewers complaining about the difficulty. It really makes me question the validity of the rest of the content, but I'll fidn out either way in a few days.Verge_6

Why do you want the difficulty to be the only thing people criticize? The guy mentions quite a lot of issues. From cheap AI to various poor design choices and silly writing. He liked S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Stop the denial, lower your expectations. From the sounds of things this one is a bit of a cock-up.

Because the first STALKER had pretty much the same things you mentioned, and that didn't stop him from liking it? Sorry, I can't really take the words of someone so inconsistent. And lower my expectations because someone else might have a different opinion about it than I? Hah, and hah again.

I don't consider 70 a good score at all. Maybe it's because I have generally high standards, but I have never played a good game that's scred below a 7.5,and even that's stretching it.
Think of it in terms of school. Recieving a 70 on an exam would be awful. Why is it different when it comes to video games?
