Is this blasphemy?  Am I no longer a Lemming if I get one?

My job is going to have my flying all over the country and the thought of sitting in airports for hours on end with nothing to do kills me.  Is the PSP worth it?  What are the best games?  Thought of getting:

- MGS PO, SW Battlefront, good racing game, good fighting game, good sports game.

Any suggestions?

It's a good system, and actually has plenty of great games. I recommend Lumines, Daxter, Syphon Filter, and maybe GTA or MGS: Portable Ops.

Umm you can be a lemming with a PSP. The PSP is a great system if you want a lot more than just games. There are some great games for the system too.

I would suggest MGS: PO, Burnout Legends, GTA Liberty City Stories, and whatever else you want.

Yeah, I know, but I just despise everything about Sony when it comes to the PS3 (except for the free PSN - I know its not exactly Live, but is still free).  Yet, when I look at the PSP, I see a lot of cool looking games that I could pittle around with here and there.  Much more fun than reading left-over USA Todays...

Since your job involves a lot of traveling you will probably get more use out of it then I ever did.  Just remember to get a second battery for those longer trips if you dont have access to an electrical outlet on your trips.

Persolnally I regret buying mine.  It just sits there, even the good games seem kind of lackluster.  I would try it out first before buying.

If you do end up enjoying the PSP all the power to you.  Games are for fun, at least to me. :)

One of my buddies bought one when it came out (6 or so months after). Needless to say, he never played it after a week. Had Fantastic Four on UMD too. What a waste that was.

Don't try to put yourself as lemming.

If anyone tries to say you any fanboy, just ignore them. Real gamers aren't classified by an animal and can freely enjoy any system they want.

About the PSP though, I say go for it. It is getting plenty of games in fall.

I'm a 360 owner and have a PSP.
Tekken: Dark Resurrection is the best game on the system. That's your fighting game.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is very good considering how bad the controls are.
Burnout Legends, Wipeout Pure, and Ridge Racer for the racing game can't go wrong really with any of them
Winning Eleven is a pretty damn good sports game for the PSP.
Get one of the GTA's over SW Battlefront.
Lumines is one of the best games on the PSP. Great puzzling fun.

I would not suggest the PSP, it is sitting around somewhere in my room collecting dust, and my PSP is hacked and it still bores me. I am getting the DS soon.

If you travel, I would suggest maybe getting another battery or 2. There's tons of great games. You can use it for music and movies if you want also. To waste less battery when you're listening to music, just turn off the screen.

Thanks for the good inputs.  I'll probably look to pick up one used, just to save a few more $.  Obviously, its not something that will keep me from playing Gears or GRAW2 when I'm at home, but on the road it sounds a lot more appealing than flipping through EGM for the 30th time.

It's an OK system.  I mostly use it to download podcasts, though.  There are some great LOOKING games, but in my experiences, most PSP games just don't play so great.  This is because although they bring over a lot of PS2 ports, the PSP lacks the depth of controls with it's single analog stick and just 2 shoulder buttons.  As a result, most of the games feel awkward to play.  As I said, I use my PSP, but mostly for watching movies on flights and listening to podcasts, which it can download wirelessly.  It's a neat device, but I can't recommend it totally as a gaming machine.  May be perfect for your travels though.

I hope it goes without saying that you should get yourself a 4gb memstick.  That should be plenty of room for 3-4 movies, some TV shows and a gig of music/podcasts.

As for gaming, I would recommened these games not already mentioned in this thread:  SOCOM Fire Team Bravo 2, Tekken Dark Resurrection, R&C Size Matters, Ridge Racer, Ultimate Ghosts & Goblins, Field Commander.
