Don't really care. He's a completely generic videogame character. Space marine in body armor kills aliens and save the world? CLICHEosirisomeomi
Wrong.
Masterchief represents the hope and fate of humanity. He is in the dream of every sleeping child. He is in the hearts of every man. He is THE Master Chief. He will not die in vein.

Your post is a cliche.
Then how would M$ continue to milk the franchise? RESURRECTION? Like JEBUS?Kritical_Strike
Halo doesn't center around Master Chief. There're a million other things to explore in the Halo universe. Plus, John 117isn't the only Spartan, btw.
Apathetic_Irony, Damn yuse corny, yes, master chief is a tool for his army and whatnot, but so is solid snake as he gets owned by his commanders in every cutscene of every game, and master chief has no personality, true, but you do, Halo is all about making YOU feel like YOU are in the game, not playing through some character, but still, Master Chief is just awesome, he can do anything with his robot suit, its gonna be a blast to play as him one last time in Halo 3 and if he does die it'll be the most epic death in all video game history, Im not a fan boy, I own all three systems and both handhelds, but Halo is one of the best story-based games of all time, and you dont gotta be a fan boy to enjoy a good story

i hope that is sarcasm.

I kinda think the whole "Metal suite generic soldier" is intentional. Master Chief, John 117, isn't some handsome looking, charismatic leader... he's just a generic soldier, in a suit. He could be me, he could be you, could be anyone. An ordinary, random soldier, saving the world and human kind.HermitCommando
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!
[QUOTE="kankthetank"][QUOTE="HermitCommando"]Bu... but who will look after lemmings when Master Chief is gone?
Timstuff
...
He sleeps around with too many other consoles.
Well, I think we know which he likes to sleep the most with. Plus, he likes to kick some Spartan ass:
This video pretty much proves that the Halos aren't activated.Detlev
Umm, no. There's a shield world that protects those who activate Halo (read Ghosts of Onyx), and it's speculated that the Ark on Earth acts also as a Shield (even though we know it's the switch to the activation)........
"I am your Shield.....I am your Sword"
Not sure exactly what Cortana is referring to but we know the 'Sword' is basically the Foreunners' weapon, i.e. the Halos.....And we know that the 'Shield' is Onyx (it's a shield world)...what we don't know is, how did the humans survive the activation of the Halos the first time (100,000 years ago); that's where the speculation about the Ark comes in.

that was the one thing that always got me confused..so many questions are going to be answered in halo3.
if he dies there will be a Halo 4 taking place on the past to explain loose endes maybe some character background, events etc, we all know Bungie is not going to let the series die yet i dont think they are that stupid, i dont like halo myself but its a huge franchise and people love itMizarus
FINISH THE FIGHT, not FIGHT ANOTHER PART OF THE BATTLE, AND WAIT SOME MORE FOR THE END.....
This is the last one of the TRILOGY. all loose ends will be tied.

When you break down the story like that, it makes me say "damn this game is deep". Hater's always talk about how the story is generic, and I can give them a pass because you don't get all of that just from playing the games (you have to read the books, and we know few people read anymore. So sad). But if you get REALLY into it, it is an amazing story.
In fact my three favorite stories of the last decade are Halo, The Matrix, and Harry Potter. It's kinda sad I won't have any stories to look forward to completing after Halo 3.
For what it's worth, I...you know what? I was gonna say that I think the Chief will die (and point out Neo's death, but not say what happens to Harry in case there is someone who may want to read it still), but as I tried to type it the answer came to me. They are gonna really close up the story, but they are not gonna kill him. They may make it so that you are not sure if he lives or dies though. And I kinda like that idea. Then they can bring him back if they ever want to.

Yeah, that idea actually crossed my mind before. Also, I was glad to hear that Bungie worked hard on Halo 3's single-player campaign and that they made it a more cinematic experience this time (according to the lead Campaign designer). Hopefully, loose ends will be tied but I have a feeling not everything will be answered....but we will get a satisfying ending.
