Large read sorry. I will buy an Xbox One first because
Console Performance
There's still unknowns about both consoles, multiple developers have said there's not much in it. I fully expect it be 100-200px resolution difference and 10fps max. Most multiplat games will not have much in it. So the difference doesn't bother me.
If PS4 does get much better graphics it will be years down the line and I'll buy one then.
Xbox Live
I've paid for it many times over the years and overall its been top performing and secure. I'm sure its made Microsoft money but it has also allow them to invest in a much better service (not fussed about free stuff want it to run well) than PSN. Sony have just realised this and now started charging.
Games
As an Xbox\360 owner I liked the series of games that was produced and the fact they made sequels that where better and different meant it was a joy to play them. The names might not have been original but a lot of the content was. Plus all the other Kinect games, exclusives (yes they have dried up last year or so) and multiplats have meant the Xbox was used by the whole family. Microsoft might not have matched the number of PS4 exclusives but the originality of the current announced games and unique features interest me more and the Kinect games get the whole family involved.
The better experience
The combination of new controller, new Kinect, smartglass and cloud (smart dedicated servers) gives a better overall experience. I've button bashed for years and at least Microsoft are trying to find new and unique ways to improve experience.
The better vision
Microsoft messed up with the DRM but if they had just put in an offline mode I would have been happy and I hope they reintroduce the benefits with digital versions. They are investing $1Billion in exclusive content, much more than Sony. Integrating Windows 8 apps into Xbox One is a very neat plan, being able to play a games on Xbox One, computer, phone or tablet with integration on cloud brings it all together. Illumi room shows they are pushing boundary's in gaming. Including Kinect with every Console shows they want it to be used and including different unique ways to utilise the Console is just cool. I even like the vision around tv integration and features such instant switch between games installed, TV and apps with snap functionality. I don't mind it being more than a hard core games Console because my Xbox 360 is used only 1/3 as hard core gamer with the rest Kinect and multimedia stuff. I'm even looking forward to taking the Kinect and games such as Project Spark into the classroom.
Summary
In short I believe there is more depth to the Xbox One and the integration with the components around it. Yes the PS4 has better performance and a few more exclusives now and even possibly later on (although Microsoft will compete), but I am looking forward to doing more with Xbox One.
