Haven't seen Dirt, but Forza 2's graphics are an 8 at best. The tracks are BLAND and boring. All races are during the day with no variations in the weather! The car models do have some jaggies, but not as bad as the environments and they look accurate. There are probably also more car models in Forza than in Dirt and Forza runs at 60fps without any hickups.
I definately don't think it deserves a 9/10 for graphics though.
I don't know. If I were to rate them by next gen standards, DIRT would get an 8 due to the best models I've seen yet, with great looking damage modelling and layers of dirt, mud etc that cling to the car. But some of the bushes and EVERY single one of them in the distance is horribly 2D. This'll hurt it's score.
Forza would get a 7. The cars look horrible in motion and the crashes are boring. But at least it all looks the same level of suckiness.

The main reason for the 9/10 for graphics is for the 60fps. They said it makes the game play really well.
There is no way Forza 2 should outscore DiRT in graphics. DiRT just looks way better. But everyone knows it will happen. Hell I'd bet money on it.MikeE21286
Based on the demo I'll say that the car models look on par to Forza ( yes I said it I have but forza 2 and played the dirt demo....gameplay sucks btw compared to forza)but the evironments looks kinda weak...which might hurt the graphic score.

Lol, then shouldent that help the gameplay score? if it helps the game play well....
GS seems to be pretty inconsistant with those 2 catagories (graphics and gameplay) like.. with VF5...
PROs: great gameplay, graphics
Score: graphics: 8, gameplay: 8
as much as i love FORZA,i think forza 2 gfx deserves a 7.pgr3,test drive looks better than forza 2.even pgr 2 on the xbox is closewiistation360
No, no and helll nooo.....
PGr2
PGR3
Test Drive Unlimited
Forza 2
Now its looks on par with PGR3...but if u count the framerate on both game...Forza wins...

Aye, they could of added some weather effects like in the new PGR 4
Forza 2 is sparse at best. Sure it runs at 60 FPS, but it still doesn't "feel" fast.
DiRT has an awesome awesome User Interface, probably the coolest one since Wip3out.
It also has great Car models, the tracks look great too. Backgrounds tale a bit of a hit, but the game gives me the sense of speed I play racing games for.
DiRT also has a great In-Car view going for it. Plus...to me at least it's a hell of a lot more fun to play.
I'm holdin out and spending my money on DiRT when Codemasters releases it in a couple weeks. Also buying their Pikmin type game "Overlord".
They're a truly unsung developer.
I don't know if people here just BS or if they actually believe what they type. Forza's graphics are sick. The lighting is incredible as are the car models. It is the best looking racer out right now and absolutely destroys PGR 3.
Dirt isn't anywhere close. Screenshot reviewers are the worst.
Forza 2 deservs a better score in graphics.
Forza 2 has a lot sharper picture with crisper textures, better car models, better lightning and it runs butter smooth at 60fps.
Dirt is a blury bloom mess with unconstant 30fps, the boom and blur are completly overused, colours and the lightning are ugly and the picture is not even a bit as clean as in Forza 2
Why would you prefer such a blury game over a crystal clear and butter smooth game like Forza 2
60fps > 30fps.
that is all. and yes, that has a major impact on what the game can and can't do, visually.

The only way it'll outscore Forza 2 is if it gets a 10 in graphics; if it gets the same score or less, it'll only confirm the Forza reviewer was a little too generous.DementedDragon
The thing is...DiRT's graphics are good, but they're no 10. So the Forza 2 reviewer was generous but DiRT getting a 9 for graphics is actually deserved because it looks fantastic, but not that fantastic.

People need to lay off Forza's graphics. They're not bad at all; they're just not ultra crazy, effects everywhere, in your face. Nobody can appreciate simply sharpness around here. It's not jaggy, it's not blurry; it's sharp, crisp, and clean. Ninja-Voxthats what im saying.

You serious? There's even more jaggiez in Forza 2 than PGR3.

That's why i really like the graphics, they are so clean, sharp, crisp and butter smooth.
Ill give everyone the 60 FPS, but crisp and smooth the graphics are not. There are far too many jaggies on the cars while reacing for my enjoyment. (and please don't show me any off-screen replays because that's not what it looks like while driving)

The graphics are very sharp and crisp, the picture is very sharp, way sharper then PGR3 and Dirt and the textures are also crisper then in both games.
Forza 2 is not as jaggie as you are saying, yeah Dirt has almost no jaggies but it's so blury, i prefere some jaggies and a very sharp picture over a blury bloom mess, but PGR3 is jaggier then Forza 2 even if it has the motion blur.
If you dont have forza2 you cant talk. Yes i do agree that backgrounds are alittle bland but i never really notice since you dont have time to look since your going 180mph. Also forza2 got a patch on day one and it looks incredible. I dont find dirt that very impressive.

That or the Forza 2 review took into count that Forza 2 runs at 60 FPS with 360 FPS physics analysis, blowing away any previous racing game.
Dirt technically looks better, but still runs at a choppy frame rate (last preview and demo) and has FAR less physics going on under the hood.
I'm pretty sure the reviewer was smart enough to take all this into consideration when giving F2 a 9.

Agreed. One of the first things i noticed were jags on the roof of cars...
