I'm sorry but the Arc/Natal will fall flat on their faces.

Here's why:

- Sony & Microsoft's main goal is to capture the "casual" crowd. But they already have a nice comfortable home at Nintendo.

- No "casual" wants to pay $299 (console) + $60 (game) + $150-$200 (Natal/Arc) = $559 instead of $200 (Wii)+ $30-$50 (Game) + $20 (per Wiimote & Nunchuk) = $410 [$149 difference]

- "Casuals" are not interested in the majority of the 360/PS3 library. Face it, no casual wants to play Halo or Uncharted.

- The 2 companies have a long track record for over-charging things. (Ex: 100 friggin' $$$ for an adapter, c'mon.Almost $500 at launch, srsly.)

- They have little to no experience with "casuals".

- The flame wars will raise hell when MSoft & Sony "abandon" their loyal fan base.

- 3rd parties will neglect it's capablilities and release half-baked games like they do on the Wii.

- Only a select few of genres will work well on it. [Can someone please explain to me how I'm 'sposed to move in a 3D enviroment WITHOUT running into my TV.]

But that's my 2 cents. *Wonders why PC manufacturers don't make a Currency button*

Oh yeah? Well, they would have gotten away with it too!...if it wasn't for those pesky Wii kids!:P

Maybe that's why Sony's not marketing as much on it?

There are 2 types of casuals:

The ones who buy all the Halo's, CoDs, Maddens (pretty much whole gaming library consists of FPSs/Racing sims/Sports games)

and the ones who bought the Wii for the motion controls

Combining both into one (catering to both types of casuals) is truly a terrifying thought. Especially if it's cheap

Wow...we got a sheep in SW...I've heard so much about you rare breeds. Just because you're a sheeep, I'll only say this: MS and Sony aren't alienating their hardcore fans by making motions mandatory for every game. It's gonna work ALONGSIDE the gamepad

Holy **** a sheep!!! There is a $1,000,000 reward for your capture as the proof of your existance, lol.

Well to be honest, Natal/Arc don't have to be casual. Street Fighter 4 anyone? That would be **** epic! Shooters could be too, well at least until you have to turn around.

Plus most games are casual, unless it is a simulator or a extremely time consuming online game it can be casual. I consider Halo and MW2 casual games. It is all about how you play it that make it "hardcore" or not. If you are tenth prestige in MW2 or have the Vidmaster achievements, then you are hardcore.

Do you really think that all those millions that Halo has sold are from Hardcore gamers, if you cannot see this, then you are beyond help, and this is coming from a fellow sheep.

It can go either way really. Frankly, I dont agree with the points he made.

The only obstacle I see in the end is the fact that they are getting into this area rather late in their lifecycles. Big No-No

1. Where did you come up with those prices of Natal and Arc?

2. Halo is one of the most popular and mainstream franchises on the market.

3. The Wii is extremely overpriced if you consider the hardware that it comes with.

4. Have you ever heard of Singstar, Halo, Gears of War, LittleBigPlanet, or even Gran Turismo?

5. The rest is all speculation on your part with little to no factual basis.

Arc will fail

Natal will not. It will be priced under 50$, and already has caught the attention of some casuals.

I really do agree. I think its really funny how people thing that either of these will be a win. Sony and 360 just need to keep doing their own thing. Why they insist on trying to be like Nintendo is really far beyone me. (any anyone who does not think thats what they are trying to do is just dillusional. )

I hope they do, I don't want motion controls in my games. Maybe I'm just a nostalgic gamer though.

Motion doesn't work for everything, and that's just a reality.

The PS3 and especially the 360 are full with kids and casuals. Halo, MW2, Sport games, those are not hardcore games...

I don't see Arc or Natal being very successful coming out this late in the generation. There will be some initial buzz over a few apps here and there, but I doubt either one will do anything special.

Oh and lol @ tc saying "no casual would want to play Halo or Uncharted".

Motion doesn't work for everything, and that's just a reality.

No control method works for everything. Mouse and keyboards suck with fighters and platformers. Gamepads with RTS and any other cursor driven games.

I agree, they will be a niche products, no less no more. Kind of like the Eyetoy is today but a bit more popular because their respective companies will be pushing them harder.

I don't agree with your opinion... But I think it's weird to play Uncharted using motion control
