It's a love/hate game, if your not totally into the level editing fully customized gameplay experience with millions of possible levels and gameplay elements then your never going to be into it. If it does not steal you at first sight I doubt you will be swayed by much...but I'll give it a shot.
You can make almost any type of game you want it doesnt even have to be a platforming level as a few demonstrations Sony used the game as part of there E3 presentation generating a awesome presentation that powerpoint could never dream of matching, or a level was emulated as a classic survival game where you drop down the stage without falling into the abyss while the stage progresses faster as you go, or even make your own custom music samples, show off elaborate machines with the builder, remake classic 2D platformer levels...I can't imagine how often Mario will have it's stages remade LBP style.
Just the freedom of it all is very liberating for a video game, if your not into it though...different strokes for different folks eh?
ehh - i guess that's cool.
But i dont think its anything big like wc3 or any of those rts's where the customization of maps is extraordinary.
well, thats just like your opinion....man :) If you dont already have an interest, I dont think anyone on here talking about it is going to convince you. I love anything that lets me be creative and show my personality. I loved how they used it in Sony's press conference to more or less do a powerpoint presentation; just goes to show how open and creative the game is. I get what you're saying though about it being a boring platformer, but it can also be a racing game, puzzle, etc. Dont be sorry man, its your right to not be interested in every game that comes out. I would rather eat glass than play half the crap on the Wii :)
can you please do some research before you post. lbp is all about creation, from your character to the whole game itself.
you can basicly creat an entire level literaly from scracth with an endless amount of tools, and share it with everyone around the world who can play together with up to 4 ppl, and then rate the level and comment on it.
honestly I dont see wats so unique about banjo, other than being able to create your own vehicle

I regret making the hype thread now
If you guys hate platforming, co-op, and making your own levels where the only limit is two dimensions
Then have fun with Gears of War 2 I guess
But at least recognise the true power that this gives the player, or at least wants to give the player (could flop)
It deserves respect at least for trying to truly break the console gaming mould

I actually did watch the sony presentation, and it looked awesome, but could you actually remake that if you just purchased the game? I mean, there maybe a lot of underlying stuff that I just have no clue about. But I guess I have the sense that there is a lot of potential to do something pretty innovative and suprising. It sort of sounds like the Spore Creature Creator, but much better (and of course the fact that you don't really "Make" creatures, but you make levels). If Little Big Planet happened to be a 360 title I certainly would choose something like Far Cry or maybe Sean Whites Snowboarding, but if this game turns out well, I will defidently be interested in seeing it in action.RavageGT
Yes you could, all it would take is good use of stickers and creating your own if you own the PSeye, and I'm still wondering if they will supporting importing JPGs for creating your own stickers.
The appeal I see in it the limited possibilities.
One of my favorite parts is where you can simultaneously design things in the same stage with your friends, instead of level creation being a painful sit and watch someone else play with it thing.
The multiplayer is also what I think shines, while it's a completely different game, I could see it rivaling Smash Bros. in terms of just creating pure fun that many people in the room can enjoy.
And yeah, the human potential for creativity in this game is endless...look at Line Rider on Youtube, what people make out of a line and a falling guy. LBP's potential is near endless.

everything that u have seen in every video you can do and much more you can even make your own boss fights and enemies. its not just a game its more of a game developement tool where u could literally sink hours upon hours creating a unique level and share it with people all over the world in a youtube style. this game will be great and people bashing it shouldn't be considered a gamer in any shape or form. there caught up in shooting games that have no user based creativity. im surprised to see how many fanboys feel that creativity for a user is stupid.

The only problem I see with LBP's community is that it will most likely be like YouTube. In which we'll have to weave through a bunch crappy User Created Content before we find some real gems. Granted the rating feature should rectify that but how long will it take for the good stuff to show upflatline711
thats why they have categories that they have already announced such as top rated most popular newes to oldest races platformers and more
So Jaimzl, if lbp doesn't appeal to someone and they bash it because of that fact they're not real gamers? I very much doubt you'd be singing the same tune if it were on 360 or Wii...flatline711
i wouldnt care what platform its on first of all. Second people in this thread arn't bashing it because it doesn't appeal to them there bashing it because its on the ps3. i honestly don't see how it wouldnt appeal to anyone personally it didnt appeal to me till recently after i saw you could use your own weapons enemies and even bosses i was sucked in. A true gamer should be defined as a person who plays games or sees with an expansive mind. a real gamer should not be confined into one genre or one type of gameplay. That is how i feel and define a true gamer.
Since Sony mostly showed shooters this time around, Little Big Planet is just refreshing.
ReverseCycology
agreed. This gen is almost all about shooters.

Here comes the haters. Try as they might. They can't kill the hype.
LBP is a game that reminds everyone why they love gaming. If you don't see it, then don't play it. Simple as that.
