its ridiculous to pay 60 bucks for a a game that takes 1 day to beat. shorter game length is the biggest downside to this gaming generation, imo

the sad thing is that with the higher costs of game production, and time required to make them, games are probably only going to get shorter over the years, or at the very least have a shifted focus on mps. cause mps are the easy way to make a short game seem long lasting

It's definitely the focus of these type of games nowadays.

As long as gamers don't mind, developers will take advantage of it. There are still some great singleplayer experiences out there, though short, but more and more it seems they're being shafted for online multiplayer.

I agree completely. Specially for FPS.

Games these days take so much cost to develope. So when faced with "Hey should we extend the SP campaign an extra 10 hrs or take 1/4 of the developement time and create a couple Multiplayer maps to add replay value?

I think it is fairly obvious that you simply don't enjoy multiplayer gaming. Others disagree.

Multiplayer that's just slapped on without much thought, yes. That's a copout.

But when it's properly balanced and maps are carefully constructed, they could be as immersive as any single player experience. The difference is that you have less control over multiplayer. Can't exploit enemy spawn triggers or AI patterns, so it's much less predictable.

Some games have huge investent in their multiplayers. I definately wouldnt consider the multiplayers in the likes of Halo and COD4 copouts.
