Well, I just got into an argument with a friend of mine about Galaxy being more fun than Brawl because of it's uniqueness and Galaxy will last longer than Brawl. Brawl will be played a lot more than Galaxy, we know that, and will be great.

"Brawl will be played a lot more than Galaxy, and will be great, but the short time that Galaxy lasted will be better than Brawl. Brawl = Melee plus. Great but not unique enough.

Galaxy which has more unique gameplay, and is a lot of fun, but for a limited amount of time.

Or Brawl, which is like an expansion of Melee. Not making a huge change like Galaxy, but making a lot of smaller improvements in different areas, and more replay value."

personally I think a game doesn't have to be uber unique to be fun, it doesn't mean nothing if it's not fun. I'm with Brawl when it comes to being more fun.

In terms of pure fun,
nothing beats Brawl with a room full of your friends going at eachother.

SMG is great as a single player experience.

Its all opinion. I havn't played SMG (not my type of game) but I'm sure its amazing. I havn't played Brawl either (surprised?) but I'm sure its amazing too plus I enjoyed Melee more than any other game last gen. I'm pretty sure I'd have more fun playing Brawl. But if your friend thinks differently, he's not wrong. Just strange... :P

Just so people know, I'm the one who he originally talked to about this.

I personally don't think that a game doesn't have to be unique to be great, and I don't think it has to have a lot of replay value as long as what's there is great enough to leave a good impression. But I think that if it's unique, and the things that make it unique are great enough, then that adds a lot more than replay value in a game that is great, but not really unique. I had a lot of fun with Galaxy, and I think that the short time that Galaxy lasted will feel better than Brawl will feel during the years that I play it. Not that it won't be great, but I think it won't be as great as Galaxy is.

Shouldn't both games be released before arguing about them?

7CloudStrife7

With most games that's true, but with this game, it's Melee plus. We already know what to expect, especially with the updates on Dojo.

Yeah, um, how many of the people here arguing have actually even played Brawl? And if so, you definitely haven't played the final release of the game...

In terms of fun, brawl wins -- the fact that a match will never be the same, the sheer amount of fun you have having 1v1 battles with your friends, tournaments, or even 4 player matches is awesome.

Getting a new map every day to experiment with, creating your own levels, etc adds to that.

Super Mario Galaxy will be a c1assic, and people will still enjoy it even after brawl -- but brawl is just one of those games, like Melee was, that will NEVER get boring.

I haven't played Brawl yet, I wouldn't know. I doubt that SMG will be more fun than playing Brawl with a room full of good friends.

It doesn't matter, just be sure to play both games. There's no point in trying to ask people if they prefer short games vs long games or single player vs multiplayer.

In multiplayer fun, no. Playing a Smash Bros. game with your friends is just awesome and fun. SMG, can be more fun in Single Player though.

Depends: Alone? SMG Friends over? Brawl However, with online capability - Brawl could also be fun if you're alone, though Smash Bros. really shines in the area of LOCAL multiplayer.

I read something about air dogding right when an opponent attacks you, they take damage or something instead.

They are both fun.

But Super Mario Galaxy may only last like one or two years. Brawl will last you the whole generation.

Cool!

They are about to punch you, and you punch him instead in mid air!

I hope they have slow motion.

IppaiMetaru

You can't compare them, SSBB isn't even out yet.
Seriously, that's just like comparing Halo 3 to Resistance 2... it just doesn't work... yet.

What's wavedashing?

Willy105

wavedashing in melee is what really evolved the game to a super competitive, high speed game.

You jump, then air dodge immediately to the ground. The result is that you slide along the floor seemlessly and can launch any attack you please from it. It the most abused/useful technique in the game. watch any pro match, it is done constantly and its so effective, it basically voids the need to dash/run.
