...have Link do battle with Snake and Pikachu? In what other game I can I have two decades of prime gaming experiences all on one disk. The fact that I can pit years of gaming against one another in one of the most chaotic and fast fighters around is something really, really cool.

I can't do that in any other game, and it's what gives Brawl is amazing novelty.

IF you are a Nintendo fan and like their characters, it's a great fanservice. However, I can't blame people that don't like it, as it's appeal is targeted for the Fans.

In what other game can I be in debt to a racoon, governed by a turtle, fight with, love, work for, and get yelled at by a cadre of wild animals, all while spreading my message of peace, and redecorating my town with a Lord of the Rings theme? That's why Animal Crossing is a novel experience.

LARP isn't just combat, and ranges in spectrum from incredibly pathetic (Vampire the Masquerade LARP - typically a group of thirteen college kids dressed in stuff from the Hot Topic sale rack, and overly mesmerized by the pseudo-occult) to some things I had to genuinely admit were cool (a group of Russians set up their own "zone", and did a cyberpunk paintball showdown, complete with homemade incendiary devices, flashbangs, et cetera).

The "omg that's incredibly lame" accounts for 99.5% of it, but if you've ever played WoW, Everquest, Runescape, Diablo, et cetera, you really can't make fun of them. "Hahahaha I only do that stuff inside, pretending on my computer" is a little bit sadder - because no matter what you say, these guys have far less shame than any of us.

Now, show me a group of people dressed up like Nintendo characters, duking it out to see who can stay on the "level" the longest... sounds, well, rather dangerous in all honesty - something about balancing on ledges while in a full Yoshi costume...
