Bringing it back to the mushroom kingdom/castle like in 64? Like a whole new castle, with many hidden secrets to uncover, secret levels.
Maybe a whole new setting, like they did foir sunshine? Maybe medieval type setting.
Or keep it in space?

A Mario game where you play 8 worlds of Mario vs Bowser and the Koopalings and after you rescue Peach you think it's the end when suddenly, Donkey Kong and his Gang appear out of no where and snatch up Peach.
Mario, Luigi and the toads then follow The DK Crew to Kong Island where now you play 8 more worlds of Mario only with Donkey Kong Platforming.

Mushroom Kingdom and a new castle please. More variation in environments. There could still be some space levels that could be warped to from an observatory or something
[QUOTE="DropsofJupiter"]After Mario conquered space, there's only one thing left for him to do. Conquer time. Super Mario Dimensions. Please Nintendo.BrunoBRSdimensions isn't time as much as it is still "space" :P There is no difference between time and space. Time is also a dimension as much as space is, and time is just space in another form (or space is time in another form).
SMG2 is my favorite 3d Mario of all time, but I think the SMG theme needs a rest.
We haven't had a Mushroom Kingdom main Mario since Mario 64, I wouldn't mind seeing a return to that. Â You can still have insane gameplay and levels without having a space theme.
Found the planet mechanic really annoying tbh, a true sequel to Mario 64 would be awesome. Oh and for Nintendo to crash and burn so hard with the Wii U that they move to a software only company so I can actually play it :)JamDev
Always the first words of a person who hasn't played the SMG games. Â There is no planet mechanic, you just saw some videos and assumed that's what the game is about.
Cyber punk Mario game mems_1224Day 1! But that would be too complex for the audience to understand. A good cyberpunk setting has high technology, mass chaos, and corporate/government corruption. Not too Mario lol

And saying the planet mechanic annoyed you would be like saying you were annoyed in SMW by the block mechanic.... they're just platforms, in a PLATFORMING game.
People saw all the initial trailers for SMG and thought it would be about jumping from one small sphere to another.... myself included. Â Yet your "plantet mechanic" makes up an insignificant fraction of the games.

Sunshine did not in the least suck.
The Platforming was top notch back in the day.

Sunshine has the worst platforming in any Mario game. Super Mario 64 had better platforming than Sunshine at the time of Sunshine's release, that's how bad Sunshine was.[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"][QUOTE="dobzilian"]SUNShine sucked, i disliked the n64 also. loved galaxy and 3d land.... weird aye.DropsofJupiter

I like classic Mario.
Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy are ok I guess, but something about the art style and setting I just don't like. It's too cute and bouncy for me.

Derp, I was obviously joking about Nintendo crashing and burning no need to get upset, what are you a stock holder or something? The reality is that I'm not going to buy a Wii U as it doesn't offer good value to me, but I would not wish for thousands of people to lose their jobs so that I could play a game.
From what I remember of SMG the planet mechanic was a major part of the game, the levels were planets of varying size and complexity on which you could find stars which you needed to unlock further planets and so on. I found it annoying on the smaller planets when the controls would constantly reverse and would prefer a return to SM64 style hubworld with less constrictive and gimmicky levels. Sorry if that offends you, but to be honest you seem overly sensitive about the fortunes of a massive multinational, multi-billion dollar company.
I find it bizarre that your first reaction to someone holding an opinion you disagree with is to accuse them of lying, you obviously have some weird issues, but whatever, good luck to you.

Wiimote+NunchukYou have to use the nunchucks for Galaxy right? you can't use classic controls?Â

I don't know what I'd like except that IÂ probably won't even buy Mario if it's in a space theme'd setting like SMG. I just didn't like how the maps were broken into a bunch of planets/pieces and all that. I don't like the space either.
What I do know though is that I would like to see more of a story to it. It needs more than a 2 minute cartoon book intro written for 3 year old toddlers if I am gonna buy the next one. I am a bit tired of Nintendo games actually. Ratchet and Clank on PS3 showed us that is it possible for a platformer to be more than just collecting stars. With dialogue, cutscenes, stuff happening, a story... Time to step up to next gen, no story and collecting stars just doesn't cut it for me any longer, it needs more.

Maybe you should check out the Mario RPG/Paper Mario series instead, as that focuses more on the story aspects... (opposed to the "core" Super Mario games, which focus on platforming)

I want less "ordinary gameplay" and more events. I want some cutscenes, I want action. Take Uncharted games, they're not cutscenes but events happen, you're running around in some friggin' sinkin ship, you walk up this path and boom some giant window explodes and then bam, some friggin' water pours in and stuff.
It's hard to explain really so lemme try and repeat it once again: I want a more movie-like experience, which is something PS3/360 games have done well and this is something I feel is lacking in Nintendo games to be honest. Basically, I want a proper Mario game BUT with flash, fireworks, some kind of pace. I don't want to just end the friggin' level by collecting a star, I want some cutscene, event or story to happen.
I think this is what I liked most with this generation. Once again, like Uncharted; it's like a friggin' hollywood movie. Or Ratchet and Clank, like some friggin' pixar movie. This is what the Nintendo games lacked, they're too much "gameplay only".
