I never considered a game perfect. Then I played the Demon's Souls remake by Bluepoint. I'm of the opinion the game is perfect. Literally, I find no fault with it. Performance, controls, gameplay, world-building, music, artistry, lore, on and on. Everything is freaking chef's kiss level.

What about yooz guyz?

F-Zero X. I like GX more, but it has some flaws and unnecessary fluff that X doesn't.

No game is perfect but there are certainly games that are so good overall that their flaws and imperfections are relatively inconsequential to the overall experience. They are 10/10 games. I have a number of those myself. Some off the top of my head are:

- Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross

- Final Fantasy VI

- Final Fantasy VII original, Remake, Rebirth

- Elden Ring

- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom

- Super Mario Bros. 3, World, 64, Galaxy 1 & 2, Odyssey

- Monster Hunter World

- Resident Evil Remake, 2 original, 4 original, 2 Remake, 4 Remake

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, Turtles in Time

- Mega Man 2, X

- Super Castlevania IV, Symphony of the Night

- Contra III: The Alien Wars

- Ninja Gaiden Black

- Dragon Quest VIII, XI S Definitive Edition

- Sparkster

- Devil May Cry 5

- Bayonetta 1 and 2

Bloodborne tells me that definitively yes, a perfect game does exist.

Other games come close to perfection like Symphony of the Night, Virtua Fighter 4, Katamari Damacy, SoR2, Tetris, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest 8, FF4, Outrun 2, Portal, Mario World, Link's Awakening, Astro Bot, UFO 50, and I think maybe Elden Ring and Metroid Prime

No. Even if I really enjoy a game, there's usually something I find fault in.

For me, immersion is the ultimate measure of whether a game is close to perfect or not.

All my greatest complaints and compliments about games I loathe or love come from how immersive they are.

However, no game is truly 100% immersive to the point you actually believe you are in the game (to be fair, that won't be possible until we have something like Star Trek "holodecks" or Black Mirror " 'striking vipers' mind meld things").

Some games get close, though. Especially simulations.

DCS World with a VR setup and HOTAS setup is damn near perfect. Not only are the airplanes and flight models rendered in near-realistic sim quality, but the game looks great and the VR lends a real sense of immersion.

The ArmA series has also been quite immersive (and Operation Flashpoint before that).

Silent Hunter (submarine sim) and the recent U-Boat release really give you that German submarine feeling of being overwhelmed, praying to god that the sonar beams don't find you, and hoping those depth charges going off are just blind shots and not close to you.

Games like Half-Life series and Portal 2 also sort of give me that tunnel-vision sense of immersion where I almost forget about the outside world. HL Alyx with VR was a pretty flawless experience, and incredibly immersive from start to finish.

Some city- and factory-builders get close as well. Factorio, Satisfactory, and Cities: Skylines come to mind.

Completely agree! I love VR for a variety of reasons, but this above all else.

I really think/hope companies keep going down this path and we do get to holodecks at some point.

The biggest issue for me is just always being aware you have something strapped to your face, a cable to manage at your feet, limited play space (if you're in a small room like myself), and two controllers in your hands. It's not uncomfortable, mind you, but just something that reminds you.

There is no such a game unless it was made by God. Games made by men can never be perfect as men are imperfect beings.

No, there are games that I can't fault in a negative way, but can in a good way by wanting more levels/worlds/guns/tracks etc.

Holodeck type stuff will only happen with a chip in the head, I think. Total immersion, but at a hefty cost.

But yeah, VR offers some crazy immersion in general. Even shitty VR (and there are so many) can be immersive. But when it's good, sheesh. Insane. I still have dreams that I'm creeping around through Castle Dimitrescu, like I'm really there. VR just has that way of getting in your head, and staying there.

Technically you could argue that is an imperfection. But it took 34 years for someone to even reach.

Needless to say, that is the NES games, there are multiple versiosn of Tetris. Not just the NES version.

Tough to say without being woefully bias. However Tetris is fundamentally flawless.

I loved the "zapping" system they had as they called it with the two playthrough paths for Leon and Clair. Gave the game great replay value.

That's tough

Control is pretty damn close for me, my only complaint being the map can get difficult to navigate but that's also kinda the point of The Oldest House....so not sure I can dock it for that....

Returnal is another one. Only complaint would be difficulty....but once again kinda the point.

MGS3 is a game I also have little to nothing to complain about, especially since the Subsistence Release has a better camera angle
