Between Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. I would say Nintendo is the most reliable system in my opinion. I guess because it uses less power than the others or something I dunno but their handhelds, their cartridge systems, Gamecube, Wii. They never hardly have any problems or else we all be hearing it here on GS.com. Playstation I would say next since my PS2 I had since brand new and it died on me but recently and I upgraded to a slim than to a PS3. Xbox I never really own long enough to honestly tell you if it really is a reliable system or not but I didn't really like the system besides Halo 2. Now I have a 360 and I bought it used with a warranty and haven't had a problem at all. A guy trade it in brand new condition. But hearing all the problems that everybody been having especially that red ring of death. I think I should be careful since it could happen to me too. My two friends have 360's and they hardly play it but when they start to get back into it again it craps out on them with the 3 rings of death. To be honest, 360 seems to be cheaply made.

I'm not a fanboy and I work at a Gamestore because I love games and from what I hear most is people's 360 crap out on them and they had to buy new ones. ( Also I would recommend all 3 systems and don't only stick to only just one. All 3 systems has great potential and why limit your gaming experience.) 360 is an awesome system though in my opinion. If it could get past that problem it has, than I would love it even more. It now has more third party support, a solid controller for FPS, a great and well organized online community and at a good price. ;) Sorry but PS3 is kind of expensive in my opinion even though I have one. They should of at least charge $100 more than what 360 was offering and no more. If the system's were $100 apart than $100 more to get a more powerful system. I think in people's mind they would think that way. Everybody has a life and has other hobbies but the gaming life is getting more and more expensive so now only us hardcore fans are willing to step into that life while casual gamers will tend to think about it for a bit and get let's say a Wii instead because they want to have fun. That's fine in my opinion too. Keep long story short. What you guys think?

I have/had a gameboy, gameboy pocket, gameboy color, gameboy advance, ds, ds lite, amiga, atari, game gear, genesis, mega drive ii, saturn, master system, nes, snes, n64, gamecube, xbox, ps1, psone, ps2, pstwo and ps3, and none of the consoles has given me any problem. I guess I'm just lucky. I think the most durable is the original gameboy, I dropped that handheld lots of time and it still worked, in fact its still with me and its working perfectly.

I remember this article about a gameboy that had survived a bomb raid somewhere in Asia. It was completely charred and still worked. Crazy.

Too long to read for 1:10am sorry.
But I'm assuming it's good on Nintendo's behalf.

In short, imo the most reliable systems are from: Nintendo
Second: Sony
Last: Microsoft...

I give my 360 worried glances while I play games, but it's such an awesome console, instability aside.

Nintendo is the most reliable because it's essentially last gen technology with unique controllers.

As far as between PS3 and X360, X360 has the most problems...that is fact.  PS3 funny enough I believe runs much hotter than the X360.  I've played both and swear to god I almost burned my hand on the side of the PS3 when I touched it.  Difference is they built the PS3 to handle the heat where as X360 was designed to break rofl.  I can't really understand how the X360 fails so much when it doesn't even run any hotter than PS3.  The engineers for the X360 hardware need a swift kick in the nuts.

Anything made by Nintendo. Seriously. They should send all the old N64s to Iraq and use them to add protection on the Humvees and such.

Right on, because the Wii is the only stable console Nintendo has ever released.

Out of those three I would have to say Nintendo but overall SEGA. I have 1 megadrive, 3 Saturns and a Dreamcast (all work beautifully, well one Saturns drive skips a bit but it still works)

Nintendo had always had well built stable consoles. The PS3 is very stable as well, which is a refreshing change from the PS1 and PS2. The original Xbox was well built but the 360 is definately not.

I've owned every Nintendo system and handheld (except Virtual Boy) and I have never had a problem with any of them.

On the other hand, I'm on my third PS2 and second Xbox. I had a launch Xbox with the Thomson drive in it. Also, I

more than one PS1.

Nintendo, but they've been in the game for 25 years. The NES was by far my least reliable system. My Gamecube the most.

I expect Sony and Nintendo to be neck and neck after 3 generations for Sony, but the PS1, and PS2, both had there DVD read error problems.

My Xbox systems have thankfully continued to operate without failure since I first got them, but the abundance of anectodal stories point to an unacceptable 360 failure rate. I am glad MS got hit by this early in the 360s life cycle, as it will prepare them better for the future.

Nintendo I don't believe has ever had problems with their hardware (to the levels of Xbox/360 or PS2's) however, the reason why the Wii is even more reliable is because it's essentially (as others have put it) GameCube 1.5.  If PS3 was essentally PS2.5, don't you think it would be pretty reliable as well?  Dressing up a gamecube and calling it the Wii is what Nintendo did, hence it HAS to be the most reliable by default.

I think it's Sony's systems hands down. Because look what the PS3 is and its hardware is flawless.

Even the biggest fanboys would disagree with you.  X360 is quite possibly the worst hardware EVER.  Heck, when the MS executive refuses to give actual numbers on the number of defective hardware he tries to deflect the arugement by saying "concentrate on our customer service when we fix those problems".  You know it has to be HUGE if he has to answer a simple question of what is the percent defective out there right now.

by the way, maybe you need to visit this site if you still think X360 is "reliable".

The Xbox 1 was pretty reliable, the same thing couldn't be said about the PS1 or PS2. And Sony didn't talk about the failure rate of those consoles either. But the 360 is pretty much in the same league of crappy hardware as the PS1 and PS2.

I've had every Nintendo system, Jaguar, Dreamcast, PS1/2, XBOX and Wii. The most reliable that still work perfectly are the PS1 and 2, thats right you heard me. In fact my Wii already has issues (artifacts).

There are a couple things I'll say.  PS1 and PS2 may have had more failures but as a % is probably no where near as high as X360 right now.  For christs sake, some people have replaced their X360 6 times....come on.  The PS2 btw had most of it's problem because it was being used as a DVD more than playing a games.....of course this was not anticipated by SOE (bunch of num nuts if you ask me).  That problem is VERY different from what I've been seeing with X360.  YOu basically have reactor meltdown with X360 or it completely ruins your disks.

btw, Xbox was not reliable.  Funny enough when it first launched in Japan retailers stopped selling them because it would damage discs by putting a ring around it (dejavu)

Wanna see my Ps2 that I sent in four times, and the PSP I sent in twice? Also, if a few hundred people out of 10,000,000+ is bad...well, I guess every electronic piece of equipment is horrible.Â
