http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=4025 As you can see from this Gamefaqs poll, only 4.7% of responders said that motion controls made the biggest impact on gaming. This makes it second to last, with only media streaming coming in lower, and online play (obviously) coming in highest at a whopping 53%!

Note: this post was made only 3 hours after the poll went online, so numbers are subject to change, but hardly ever do.

Whether you like it or not motion controls is here to stay. You could make a hundred polls but it wont make any difference or change peoples opinions. Motion Control haters are a very small minority and are not even a fart in the wind compared to the bulk who do like MC. You can bet that every subsequent gen after this, will have motion in some sort of fashion. Anybody who has a problem with this, you might as well quit gaming after this gen is over if you hate motion controls that much because Motion controls isn't going anywhere.

I also believe this is about self inventing their own demographic. Maybe it will take a brand new generation to fully realize motion controls.

Think of it as being like when music changes. The last generation is always the last to adapt. No go listen to some lady gaga and put that metallica CD down.

You know you are spending too much time talking about video games instead of enjoying them when you actually believe that Internet polls are more valid than the real world.

How could a poll on a gaming website, which is abviously mostly used by hardcore games, say anything about the casuals?

That's not proof at all. It is a well known fact that motion controls are hated by a lot of gamers. I honestly never understood why they were so controversial.

If the only way to play games in the future is through motion controls than I likely will quit playing any of the new gen systems. Till that happens though I will stick with it

Motion controls have changed the face of gaming for people who never visit Gamefaqs.

but if you polled the casuals then the poll would be completly different.

the poll above doesn't prove, at all, that motion control is pointless.

Motion Controls are for the casual market. As with any casual trend, it will come to an end when a new fad comes out. If not, then yeah, gaming may permanently change, but not for the better. It's like Michael Bay films being massive box office hits - Flashy & draws in those looking for bright lights & big explosions, but there is no depth & if the film industry was taken over by similar movies, it would be a disaster. Same thing for the gaming industry & motion controls.

As long as there are developers that or more interested in creating great games than creating massive profits (sure, they're few & far between, but they're there), we'll have great non-motion control titles to play. Not everyone sells out.

Edit: Just to make myself clear, I'm all for motion controls except when they're forced upon me through titles I used to love. Like Zelda.

Especially since he's using a poll as "indisputable proof" yet the poll in this thread disputes the poll at IGN.

Let me know when BBC or something remotly linked to the casual gamers say that motion control is crap then maybe you got something to go on. But until Opra and Justin Beiber call motion controler useless I suspect the masses will continue to eat them up.

Dosn't show anything as motion controls are largely aimed at the casual and party game crowd who don't tend to frequent gaming sites.

Just because you want it to go away doesn't mean it will. The Wii has is the fastest selling console of all-time with most of the best selling games of ALL-TIME. DEAL already people.

tell that to the reviewers of re4 wii edition and get smacked across the head. btw love ur sig

"Not only does RE4 itself remain a heart-pounding thrill ride and a modern classic, but the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls breathe new life into a game that is still a treat to play, two years after release" right here on gamespot first paragraph

Never played it on the Wii. Didn't like it on the Gamecube though, but it's a slow paced TPS so it couldnt be hard to get the controls right ...

Most people who enjoy motion control games on Wii don't post at gamefaqs or any other gaming site. Thus, the sample polled isn't representative of all those who have tried motion control.

And even so, it was about impact, not about usefullness.
