Industry standards you wish to become commonplace next gen

Well interpret the title as you will, we're on the eve of jumping into a new gen of gaming. Whether it be something to do with services or the games themselves let's hear them out

• All games to have demos - Kind of a no brainer, there are an astounding number of games out there that have no demos at all. Boggles my mind looking up games at times and the only thing I have to go on is Youtube and hearsay. Damnit devs, I wanna try it myself!
• DD to expand significantly on consoles. I would love to build a complete DD library on the new Xbox or PS4. Tired of physical media and whatnot. Of course people should always have the option to choose for you collectors/traders.
• More VA options in games. Now I'm not advocating devs go out of their way to include languages that they wouldn't normally translate for but if by chance they are doing something outside of English I want to have the choice to hear it! Metro 2033 in Russian is pretty cool sounding and I'd love to be able to choose to have Japanese VA in JRPGs.

One thing I would like to change is the **** region locking and staggered release dates. Industry standard should be that a game be released everywhere on the same date for every platform and in every country where there is demand for said game.

Non proprietary accessors for all consoles (HDDs more specifically)

All pc games support the 350 controller and the multiplats on pc play the same exact way it is on the consoles. Like on Black Ops 2 I dont like how the controller doesnt have aim assist, it should have it like the consoles do.

Definitely agree with that, seeing how some games can have 5 different pre-order bonuses between stores. The VA option mentioned in the OP makes sense. I think I saw someone advocate for blocking used games, and that's a big ew from me.

pre order bonus needs be gone SPECIALLY exclusive store crap. IF they going do this i think a code should be placed in the box  as long as they plan to sell it for $60 or full price. OR maybe make it where if you log online by  a time peroid  say 30 days?

Yeah all those. Vanquish was awesome, you could have the voices in Japanese and the text in any subtitle. I chose English. 

I'd like to see:

Backups of all saves to the cloud

Commonplace? Strategy games on consoles. Even allow mouse and keyboard controls (dreams are free I know)

Video buffer of gameplay so you can save clips when awesome things happen. 

Attach any storage device. 

Backwards compatible with 7th gen controllers

Free porn for the over 16s. 

I'd really like the industry to release more Castlevania and Megaman X games next gen.

And more fun games in general.

I'd like to see no intrusive DRM schemes, no retailer exclusive content, and less focus on excessively linear and "cinematic" games.

1. Cross-play/cross-buy. God, I love it. Although MS of course wouldn't be able to do so.

2. Free DLC. And othing is more frustrating than already incorporated DLC options when a game releases (Yeah, I'm looking at you EA. Greedy bastards).

There is DLC like EA DLC then there's warranted DLC like Gearbox's Borderlands where they have an already super long game and make the game twice as long with decent content after the game is finished. That kind of DLC I have no issues with.

FPS games to have offline 4 player split-screen and 2 player offline splitscreen for campaign.

Oh and put out trade event demos out to the public.

No on-disc DLC (it's an obnoxious practice, when i buy the disc i expect to have access to the contents of that disc. Not part of it and you can charge me for the rest later.

DD to expand - i agree, though mainly a more robust (and less restrictive) XBLA. Also steam-like stales would be just dandy

No more proprietary hard drives/external memory units- it's sad that nintendo is the only console maker today to get this right (you can plug in just about any external hard drive into it)... get to it sony/microsoft (at least in the vita's case, not sure if the ps3 has this issue though i have 250 gb inside my ps3 so i haven't had the need to expand). 

DLC - as much controversy as it's gotten, if there's a game i love playing and want to experience more i like the idea i can spend a few more dollars and get additional content to the game. As long as DLC is done right and not abused i think it's a great thing. 

AA gaming (for lack of a better term) - i would like to see more $20, $30, $40 games start popping up, maybe not with the AAA level development budgets and hollywood style acting, but maybe those fun 20-30 hour games that provide the A-AA experience that was lacking last gen imo. To me games have either gone in one extreme or the other (indie or AAA), and i'd like to see a medium somewhere in there that can thrive.
