I agree with them, but in the end it's a 7.5, No way around it.

I wonder what people on these forums would say if GTA4 gets 8.0 on Game Spot and other sites give it 9's & 9.5's???

Aaron rated it low compared to the average score , that is all I can say objectively. I think the Insomniacshave every right to be upset about a low score and the poorly written review, but they are acting in a childish manner about the whole situation imo.

Well when I let my brother play it...(he's 19 and not exactly a platformer fan himself)...his exact words were "this is the best game ever!", while i don't completely agree with him it was an awesome game, I would say 7.5 was a little bit low maybe 8 - 8.5

Yes. Far underrated. It's platforming is only second to SMG's this year, and which is better of the two is based on opinion.

In all seriousness...I played a demo of it recently. It's definitely a game thats much funner to play than it is to watch.

I'd say from what I've played it was AA material to say the least.

The points brought up are valid and I would have to say I agree with Insomniac. Does this change the 7.5? Nope, that's the score for good and that's ok. And to the people saying that Insomniac is whining or to suck it up....Watch the clip before writing ignorant posts. He's not whining in the clip and he asks valid questions.Ibacai

Gamespot made it perfectly clear that reviewers tend to request the games they are excited about. The fact that the reviewer likes sports games has no bearing on his view of platformers. and criticisng a game for lacking consistency is a perfectly valid complaint

But of course we have too many wise cracks in system wars who dont listen until its too late.

I have lost all respect for Insomniac. I could understand them complaining when the review first came out because GS is obviously a major reviewer and the 7.5 probably had a negative effect on sales, but will someone tell them to quit *****ing like a bunch of 5 year olds about how unfair life is and move on?PBSnipes

The variety comment. He clearly didn't mean that too much variety is a bad thing. But when it's not done properly, it can be easily bad in games.

You guys are clearly taking what he said out of context. They were already on the subject and then Geoff Keighly asked Schneider about the Gamespot Ratchet and Clank review. Schneider didn't bring it up. The criticisms that he made were completely valid. A person who doesn't have experince reviewing platformers shouldn't be reviewing such a high profile platformer. He also criticized the fact that Aaron Thomas criticized Ratchet and Clank for having too much variety-which is absurd.

It was not in any way whining. Lemmings making multiplae topics about how unfair the Mass Effect review was is, however, whining.

Did anyone actually watch the video. People are commenting as if he went out on a rant about the GS score out of nowhere when that wasnt the case. The host asked the Insomniac marketer how they handle bad reviews and then brought up the GS review and wanted him to comment on that example. What he said was fair and echoed what the other female marketer on the show believed, that as a marketing team they would not want thier platformer title to be reviewed by someone who primarily reviews and prefers sports games and visa versa.

They basically want as fair a review as possible as marketers they prefer that a game be reviewed by reviewers who like that genre or style of game. This truth echoes in the infamous comment "Rachet had too much variety". There is a reason why GS was one of the lone low scores while others rated it much higher on average.
