Since graphics play a major part in game reviews now-a-days and the wii almost at it's graphical "best" do you think that over the next 4-5 years the wii's game review scores will get progressively lower due to dated graphics?

The Wii is not almost at its best. Expect even better looking games than SMG by the end of its life cycle.

I think, that GS rates its graphics scores based on the systems own standards.

As said by many before, any good review website would rate the games graphically based on how much the system has displayed before in the past and how much it can handle. Reviews are written for the consumer and I think most consumers would already know that the Wii doesn't have the graphical power of a 360 or PS3.

exactly. Plus art style plays a big part in the graphics score, at least thats how Jeff says he reviews games.

I think secretly Gamespot will be biased toward Wii for not having the same graphical abilities as the 360, but will still claim they are "fair".

Do you really need a reminder that a $250 system and one from Nintendo doesn't have the best graphics? Most people should be able to tell that Nintendo's focus isn't on horsepower and is on gameplay and features.

Or GameSpot. They score games based upon the standards of the console, not by comparing to competitors. And lets not forget the power of art style. How else do you think WarioWare Smooth Moves got a 9 in graphics?

well the wii does have descent graphics, I'm just saying that in a few years the graphics will look dated because i think the wii will reach its graphical peak by the end of the year. I also think that the ps3 and the 360 have a few more years before they get there. I just think that after a few years editors and reviewers alike will review a ps3 or 360 game, then review a wii game and feel like they're playing an old system. old in the sense that the graphics are from the ps2-gamecube gen. i could be wrong i just think that awesome innovative gameplay can only carry them so far, because if you losten to people that walk into EB games and look at the ps3 or 360 the first thing they say is it looks so real or man look at the graphics. I just think people will lose interest in the system after a few years.

I didn't fall for anything, Nintendo long ago admitted the Wii won't have the horsepower of the 360 or PS3 and that isn't their focus. I bought a Wii knowing that it won't have graphics up to par with those systems, frankly I don't mind. As long as the graphics accomplish their goal and fit in with the gameplay and theme of the title I'm okay. The graphics on the Gamecube served their purpose enough and were good enough to me. Meh, maybe I feel this way because I love 2D games. To me as long as those games fit and served their purpose I enjoyed them. I hate 8 bit graphics but loved the art style on games like Link's Awakening or Metroid Fusion. Because they work. Oh and for $50 more you get a 360 true, but the crappy core package. I don't want that, I want the $400 package for $150 more. Which I will get later this year and once the price drops. So that I could get a good number of Platinum Hit titles as well.

Obviously not. Art-style wise, GeOW was hideous. Unless Jeff appreciates the art of brown and gray.

That's right, only $50 more and you get it without those pesky things the Wii offers out of the box, like a game, a wireless controller, and the ability to save.

Art doesn't matter! It's got to look real! Real! REAL! Realism is EVERYTHING! Thats why it's always best to get the system with the BEST GRAPHICS! (/sarcasm)

haha...graphical best....thats a funny one considering prettymuch every game thus far out on the Wii has been origionally been for the gamecube and transferred to the Wii and add new controls

first the wii hasnt reached its peak yet. and it certainly wont reach it by just the end of its first year. lets get serious the wii specs are stronger than that of xbox1 so the wii has alot of room for improvement. besides there are PS2 games that got 9s and 10s on graphics when there were alot of gc and xbox games that looked way better. the ratings are based on what the system can do and partly competition. trust me the wii scores wont die down for graphics more than likely if they take a nose dive again it will be for gameplay. look at the difference between psp and ds. the ds has way better games but is not as strong from a graphics standpoint. so i think not being as strong as the other 2 wont hurt the wii. the wiii will have some great looking games just 360 and PS3 games will look better. is that any different from last gen when ps2 had great looking games, but the gc and xbox games looked better. no its not.the ps2 won on a games not graphics. thats what the wii, 360, or PS3 will win on games not graphics.

The review guide is wrong. So Dreamcast can join the race and it games can still get a 9 graphics? Lets bring back Atari and have it compete and give its games 10s while we give a game like Oblivion an 8 and Lost Planet an 8. Lets go by your logic.
