Nintendo DS...definetly. I don't want a buggy 600 dollar phone that cost 200 bucks to make which also has wi fi problems and doesn't have a camera like my 7 year old cell phone has.

After the iPhone is passed it's bug-date and everything is fixed I'd rather have an iPhone. Scratch that, I'd even rather have a broken iPhone then a DS. I hate portable gaming systems.

Actually it has a 2mpx camera built in. Still very expensive for a phone. I suspect this will help introduce the future age of touch screen mobile products similar to how the ipod design helped streamline the interface on most MP3 devices.

600 bucks and a two year contract? no thanks. that's not what i'll pay for a gaming system. I wouldn't buy it for my phone either.

my biggest issue with the phone itself is the nonreplaceable batteries. I remember how the ipods batteries would die. I don't want that happening to my phone.

Hmm... Since I have to PAY for the iphone's service, I'd still take the DS.

the iphone is an ok phone (even though it flopped according to what it wwas hyped) but as a games machine it'd end up worse than the PSP.

iphone's are cool, but i dont think they're worth the money. as an ipod its not worth it. 4 gigs for $500 when i already have a 30gig i payed $250 for? as a phone they're cool, but i wouldnt ever pay that much for a phone. and as a portable gaming system the DS beats it hands down. so as a multimedia device i guess the iphone wins, but i wouldnt even really consider it a competitor to the DS in handheld gaming.

With an iPhone, you're essentially paying for the 'cool factor' and little else that hasn't been done already in mobiles (albeit, less glamorously). With the DS you're buying into the dominant handheld games system, with a huge library containing many good games, free wi-fi online. I'd personally choose the DS. The iPhone is just unappealing to me, at the moment. (Hell, it hasn't even been released here in Australia yet, as far as I know)

Looks like those reports were incorrect then

i still think it would flop harder than the DS if they tried to repackage it as a proper games machine, but if they started putting casual stuff on there nintendo could be in trouble

Keep in mind the iPhone was never promised to be a gaming handheld. I'm surprised that nobody but myself chose the iPhone. If you're lost in the middle of nowhere, the iPhone can get you home. The DS can... keep you occupied till you get found. (FYI I have a DS, and I love it, but practically speaking of course...)

This is a gamin forum so i guess most people were looking at them as gaming machines first and foremost. and A lot of people (myself included) feel that the ipod is all style over substance with functionality that is inferior to older phones
