Ironic, the system that turned out to have 'teh hidden powa' was the 360

everyone said it maxed early with Gears 1. Well, now we're seeing things on the 360 that most thought was not possible, that is games that actually look better than PS3 exclusives.

With games such as Crysis 2, Tomb Raider, Gears 3, Rage and Forza 4 we can now say, DAMN this system has the hidden powa!

I know right? we were promised by cows every year this year the 360 is maxxed out the ps3 will destory the 360 will outsell it and have more high rated games...etc...etc every year we were disapointed.

It kind of reminds me how we were promised that if GTA 4 had been ps3 exclusive it would have been this godly game in graphics and content...yet im playing infamous...what happend?

Pretty much as simple as this. Not a single game on my old (RROD) 360 had better graphics than my PS3. Still side with sony on the graphics and games department, not a hard choice at all really.

Your listing 1 game with significant framerate performance/slowdown issues (Crysis 2), and 3 games not even released yet. The PS3 version of BF3 will also likely be better than the 360 version according to EA.

For a consoel that is1 year older hardware than PS3, it can run multiplats that look better than ps3 exclusives. That fact alone means it had 'da powa' because exclusive or multiplat, the fact that some games look better than uncharted 2 and god of war prove the 360 is capable. Gears of war is not an ugly game either.

360 has proven itself this generation, and no matter how cows go "ps3 exclusives are better looking" they dont 360 games out of the water. MS had the better design, as it got it right a year before sony.

Generally power is based upon things which can't be done somewhere else. The codes for the multiplatform games aren't necessarily differing by power, one is probably more optimized to work on one console versus the other.

No console have hidden power. It's called optimization. The more a dev is used to a certain type of hardware they can find easy shortcuts in programming a game on that specific hardware to make the game look better on that hardware.This can be also applied to the PC too, but not a lot of devs seem to optimize the changing PC hardware.

well its 2011, so it would make sense that the 3 titles you named would look great when they are released in 2011. im assuming your talking about tomb raider the new one. which does look awesome, but for some reason games never look as good as their preview videos.

That is true but if the multiplat games are better technically than the exclusive then that would prove that the console can do better graphics than said exclusive. I'm not saying one console is more powerful than another or one game is better than another but multiplats can show a consoles power to an extent. They might not be able to show their full potential but it can still show roughly what it is capable of.soulitane

I think it's a lot to do with that a lot of games are built on the Xbox360 before they are built on the PS3. I remember reading a few years back that it's easier to build on the 360 architecture. It's similar to translating in languages of the world today. Something that is written in Spanish doesn't have nearly as much shine and magic as when it is translated to English, and vice versa. If it were easier to port from the PS3 to the 360, I'm pretty sure things would be different.
