I just bought a new tv a week ago. I bought the 50 inch samsung DLP 720p/1080i Rear projection TV at Circuit City. Personally I think my TV looks amazing, Especially my 360 and PS3 look amazing on it. My question is, is there really that much of a BIG difference with 1080p that its worth paying $700.00 more?! My TV was $1300.00 and the cheapest 1080p TV they had was $2000.00. Honestly, I think if you put both TVs side by side running the same exact program, I highly doubt you will notice that much of a difference, also considering I hear blu ray movies look amazing running in 1080i also. dude, the reason your tv was only 1300 bucks wasnt because its worse than the others, but because its rear projection...

Is this true?BigBoss5777No theres no point in buying a 1080p tv now, just wait like 1-2 yrs and the price for 42" 1080p tvs will drop about $4000 (aus)...but meh 1080p wont be anything specia by thenl, tvs with better resolutions will probably come out within the next 2-3 yrs...and the new laser TVs......

Did you know that this thread is from 2007? It seems that troll is causing trouble for the third time and banning him twice did not deter him.

720p vs 1080p is quite a big difference. Everything just looks more defined. Like, characters onscreen standout from the background. It looks really great. :)

Just realized. You almost always assume it's a new thread.NEVER run a game/movie in 1080i. The extra pixels aren't worth it because the interlacing completely destroys the image. If you only have 720p, use 720p.
EDIT: Why the hell do people dig 150 pages back for a thread from 2007? Really now? Lock this please.
