Bricking isnt the right word. It did cause problems to the consoles, but they could be fixed by a simple reformat of the hd.
There is a link on the ps3 forum if you still want the update though. Just download it to a flash drive and install it on your ps3 that way.
I got the download the day it came out, and have had no problems.

they pulled it because it sucked too much. funny actually people hyped it so much and then here it is and nope it sucked sooo much they had to actually pull it from there servers to stop downloads and compliants.LibertySaint
Wow, just wow. Whatever makes you sleep at night I guess.

That actually does make sense. All the hype about how this update would make it better than XBL (even though lots of the stuff in the update, 360 users have been able to do from day one) and then it causes problems for lots of people. More waiting for the cows.

Simple? You had to take out the HDD, then reformat, which can take forever, and put it back in. You lose all your saves, etc. Come on, talk about making light of a situation. This post is worse than Lemming's damage control over RROD. (IT ONLY HAPPENS TO 16% OF CONSOLES!!!)

The good news is Sony is fixing 2.40 bricking for free, if you lack the expertise. 8)thread at gaf has links to download it from usb if you want to try.killzowned24Back up your HDD first, it's not hard you just go to system settings and from there you can backup the most important files on your HDD, also copy the save files onto the USB then you can reformat if it fails and keep the information.
