This weeks sales figures DSi, 66,416 (125,524) PS3, 57,056 (207,888 PSP, 19,572 (42,117 Wii, 14,556 (32,643) DS Lite, 9,206 (14,765) Xbox 360, 4,927 (9,541) PS2 ,3,100 (6,788 http://www.edge-online.com/news/japan-weekly-ps3-sales-drop-to-57000 PS3 out sold Wii and 360 combined, 360 has flatlined and there seems no way back. If I was MS I would just cancel TGS and call it a day, game over. The console has taken such a beating from Sony in the last few months it's clinically dead. MS are just keeping it alive on a ventilator.

i hope people werent expecting PS3 to sell 150K per week for the next 6 months or more..

compared to the other consoles it still outsold them by a considerable margin..

Actually the 360 sold very well, those numbers even for last week were a lot given how well the PS3 did, and to see it still doing well is almost a miracle, though that has something to do with the pricecut im guessing. Regardless, the 360 is getting bought as an alternative to the PS3 as well as for its niche games that its slowly accumalating.

5,000 a week is more than 250,000 a year. Why would you think the 360 was dead? Ok it's never going to sell the numbers of Wiis or PS3 but it's still sold more than 1,000,000 in Japan and that's a healthy enough installed user base expecially for any japanese-centric games they may release on the console.

PS3 sales will also drop back off again for a month or two then peak again over December.

I like how you use large numbers to show the sales as being really large. Saying "1 Million" or "250K" also works. But agreed with what you are saying. Just hilarious use of persuasive techniques, or whatever you want to call em.

So many people have said this.
Its simply an accepted fact that the 360 doesn't sell alot in jpn, but it SELLS its not dead if it was dead it would be 0 units sold every week.
yet its consistantly in the thousands, I don't think i've ever seen it drop below a 1000 *could be wrong*.

P.S: so much for ps3's dominance with price drop and slim.
Japanese PS3 sales fell by over 90,000 units

Well the Japanese userbase of the 360 is enough for Japanese developers to consider it when they release a title, but then theres its worldwide success. Its JRPGs sales have mostly come from Japan, the main issue is that most of them happen to own PS3s, though the 360s attach rate is way higher.

Its great news that both the PS3 and 360 are doing well, the Japanese market has ignored ALL consoles with even the Wii selling third-party software EXTREMELY poorly. Now with the HD systems doing well worldwide and the Japanese HD market turning into something at least, well start seeing the one thing that has stopped this generation from being the best i.e Japanese support.

Dont Worry. Final Fantasy XIII and Gran Turismo 5 should boost sales again for a while. Sony has Japan in the pocket for the holidays and they know it.

lol it's funny to see lemmings critisize PS3 sales even though it's the second best selling system over there, they are trying to put the focus of the lousy X360 sales.

X360 can't even beat a last gen console over there I think we should stop having hopes of seeing the X360 do good I mean they just had a price cut and still nobody wants one.

It's a battle to the end to see which console stands out on top the X360 or PS2 LOL
