it'll have to be i suppose. 1TB is not great in terms of capacity. 2TB would have been ideal but for cost reasons that's not happening.
in saying that i will certainly take an 825GB-1TB SSD over a 2TB HDD. if the next gen consoles were still on HDDs it would be horrendous.
It's nice that the PS5 will also use standard off the shelf PCIE4 SSDs too though. it's one thing i love about sonys approach to storage on their consoles since the PS3 (yeah...lets not talk about the vita). HDD dies? just get another one, restore the OS and away you go.
I hope Sony also have a bootloader that will allow the PS5 to boot from a secondary SSD in the even that the primary SSD fails. It would be a shame to have to replace a PS5 years from now just because the internal SSD packed it in. As i understand it that wont be a user replaceable part. its built right into the mobo.
I hope its the same for the XSX too. i'm not thrilled about their vita memory card setup. they should let the user use off the shelf hardware too to expand the XSX storage.
