I don't have an HDTV...
Fact is that an HDTV isn't required to play a Console. It's not even logical to include it into the price...that's desperation on the part of anyone who claims that an HDTV should be part of a Consoles price.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]Why can't you rent PC games like you can Console games?Jandurin
Not compared to a Console plus a new HDTV. The cost I have summed are for a complete PC.acekallor i could buy a 22'' widescreen with my 360 all for about 700 cause i have to buy the cables and it lasts me 5 yrs and i dont have to worry about it. then i suppose you will say such a small screen but when its sitting about 3 feet away and im the only one playing why would i need anything bigger?
Not compared to a Console plus a new HDTV. The cost I have summed are for a complete PC.acekallIf you really want to look at the prices objectively you cannot compare a $1000 HDTV to a $200 moniter. Especially since you can hook up a console to the moniter that you priced at $200. I agree that PC gaming is not very much more than consoles but really man you are not making your point when you start adding things in that are not the same things. I bet for less than $1000 you can find a closeout 45 to 50 inch rear projection that will do 1080i. Bring the computer specs down a bit and ditch the moniter and HDTV and you will have a more honest comparison.
Lets see hmm:
Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8 GHZ €169
Cooling €30, his is needed to overclock the processer over 3 GHZ
Asus P5N-E SLI with nVidia Nforce 650I sli, integrated sound, 1016 mhz FSB €115
Buffalo 2 GB DDR2-800 RAM €139
Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 MB €300
Seagate 400 GB 7200 RPM HDD €129
Cheapass PC case €50
Chieftec 620 Watt Powersupply €99
Lite-on DVD burner €30
Acer 19' moniter 700:1 contrastratio, 2 ms responsetime, 1280x1024 pixels €209
Mouse and Keybord €50
Windows Vista FREE
A complete Gaming PC with everything for just €1300.
This setup will even kill a PS3 or a 360 in sli mode.
This is with tax and average price, if you look around the net you can find cheaper prices.
Good HDTV €1000
X360 €400
PS3 €600
A X360/PS3 HDTV combo will cost you more, and this pc will last at least 2 years and can play every game now on high settings.
PC gaming is not that expensive at all, considering you alreadt have a pc you only have to upgrade.
This kill the argument that PC gaming is expensive.

You can use that PC monitor with the consoles.
You already own that TV so why add it to the costs?[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]Also, if you can count an HD tv for Console gaming, you can count it for PC gaming. My HDtv has a VGA connection. Add $1000 to your PC price, there, and take off the monitor.Jandurin
And this was my other thought:
I already own a gaming PC why do you console people always feel the need to add unnesessary upgrades to my costs? You can use that PC monitor with the consoles.

that pc will kill either a ps3 or 360 without sli!

Maybe because without the cost of the HDTV he just tacked on it costs three times as much?
Like I said before.... if you were really Hell bent on squeezing HD out of the consoles you could just use that PC monitor.

say what?Of course it's more powerful - it costs three times as much (more actually) than a 360.
If you want HD with the console you don't need that expensive HDTV either, you can use that same monitor he included in that PC list.
[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]I already own a gaming PC why do you console people always feel the need to add unnesessary upgrades to my costs?I am not a console people. I just think the TC's console purchases are incorrect.Well, when I say "console people" I am referring to more then one person so you should say that you are not a "console person" instead of "a console people". Either way adding unnecessary purchases to the price of something that you have already purchased and claiming that it is necessary is ridiculous.

yes i know ,,thanks for pointing that out..The face value of PC gaming is certainly more expensive, but by no means does this mean jack in the long run. Over the span of a generation you could spend conceivablly less on a gaming pC than consoles. I've spent about twice as much on my 360 of a year than my PC of two.Vandalvideo
That's because you're insane. Stop mentioning that like it's the norm.
Correct me If I made a mistakeacekallNo problem. Who factors in an HDTV for console costs? You can play fine on a 19" monitor with a PC, but you suddenly need an HDTV for consoles? Use the same display for both price comparisons, please.
