If anti-aliasing doesn't bother you then its rubbish. If it does bother you then it isn't rubbish. I personally play at either 1440p or 4k--I'm also not anal about AA so I leave it off for better performance. I leave it on for games that suffer minimal performance loss. For 1080p, if I ever decided to game on my Acer monitor again, I turn it on.

There are multiple type of AA algorithms. Some do blur everything (quincunx), but others just look for edges.
depends on the AA used. i think post process AA is getting better.
i remember using MLAA for the first time many moons ago and thinking "oh no. aliasing is fine. its grand. i'll leave MLAA off thanks. cure worse than the disease and all that.".
but they have improved it a lot since. the vaseline side effect has been greatly reduced. the best though seems to be a combination of MSAA and post process AA on some elements to get the cleanest image. but it can come with a more hefty performance hit so devs are reluctant to use it.
I don't use AA at all. Not because I don't notice the jaggies with AA off - but because I still DO notice them with AA on.
Since they make only a small difference to me and cost performance in the process, I keep them off.
I usually tend to keep it off at my resolution of 3440x1440 and if anything I'll apply Reshade and sharpening through there if needed.
In some older games with simple geometry, lower quality asset etc...using higher resolutions with AA to remove the barnacles on the side of a ship effect is a detriment imo.
