Explain your argument first.
This is why I love Kratos- He doesn't care about anyone, kills almost every person he meets and at the end everybody hates him for some reason.
So all you play is sports and puzzle games right? Yeah, I thought so.GTA disgusts me. I hate playing any game where I have to do things that I wouldn't do in real life.
God of War is the same way. The so called "Hero" is a totally evil jerk. Some people would call him a typical Anti-Hero, but I'm not convinced that anything he does is good.
And yet this is one of the most talked about games on Sony's systems; Why do people like this crap? What happened to real heroes? You know, the ones you could look up to?

Well I guess while everyone is enjoying God Of War III you could bake cookies or something.

Dude...
Don't insult baking cookies like that. Baking cookies is awesome. If I had all the flour and stuff in the world, I'd totally bake cookies instead of playing videogames. Infinite replay value.

I'd rather make potato chips, personally.Yeah! Hero's with no balls like PAC-MAN, with his big yellow round awsome self.....*Save me PAC-MAN!! Save me!!* LOL.GTA disgusts me. I hate playing any game where I have to do things that I wouldn't do in real life.

Well said. Being a hero is about the greater good of all, and sacrifice. Kratos is on a quest of vengance whish is admired mostly by the young but it is always a selfish pursuit, putting ones personal satisfaction before anything else, which is why it usually leads to downfall.LOL. GoW3 does not disgust me aand many others. Sure it has strong gore but if you been sheltered of course its going to disgust you. Anyway, the game was never about being a hero, but its about vengeance and wrath.

So what games do you play ? The Sims ?
and its God of War what do you expect ? creating rainbows in battlefield ?
Bioshock; Has a great ending if you're not a jerk. Metal Gear Solid; a respectable hero in a game that rewards you for avoiding violence. Resident Evil 5: A game with a hero written so poorly that you're laughing too much to be disgusted. Actually, in MGS4, you can't create rainbows in the battlefield, but you can create sunshine. I love bioshock, but it has terrible endings, both are garbage. If you want to talk about cruel, your basically going through the whole game killing people who went insane, would be no different then going to a mental institute and taking everyone in there down. I am exagerating, but these are video games, in real life you wouldnt even be capable of doing 99% of the stuff kratos does because he is killing creatures, gods, and soilders from greek MYTHOLOGY, almost everything in the game is a made up enitity.Basically the only humans in the game are either the chicks that you pleasure, or the soilders that usually die before you can even reach them.If you want to talk about disgusting games, how about postal? Its basically a murder simulator.
umm dont play the game then. face people are evil and they like to know whats its like to be evil. the point of a game is to take you to a place and do things you couldnt do in real life. nothing beats banging a hooker in gta than running her down with the car and taking your money back, or killing gods, who doesnt want that... NO ONE THATS WHO!river_rat3117I would totally kill a god. That would be freaking awesome!

The amazing gameplay and story surpasses the fact that the main character is a bit mean.
I think a lot of people are mis judging Krato's character. **SPOILERS** When I think of Kratos, I think of him as a story character, not "That dude that goes around ripping evil zombie soldiers apart, and killing gods", I think of a very conflicted soldier/man, who unwittingly bit off more than he could chew, and went from trying to redeem himself and forget memories of himself slaughtering his family whilst under Aeries' control, to a broken man turned power-hungry god killer, hell bent on revenge for getting the cold shoulder by all the other gods. ***SUPER DOOPER SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ IF YOU DID NOT PLAY GOW II***!!!!
Including, and especially his own father, Zeus, which just adds more fuel to the fire.
now, I will admit that it's not the most unique story line out there, and Kratos is by no means a role model. But he wasn't designed to be that way. This is not a game for a 10 year old to play. It's an adult game that both appeals to fans of macabre, and those who like a bit of drama. It's not too much drama, but by no means is it shallow IMO. Also, I really love the way the developers have given Greek Mythology their own little "holywood" style twist. It's great! Not to mention it's pretty awesome to see other peoples renditions of all the gods, and other mythological beasts/creatures/figures. but whatever. Keep thinking of it as just a shallow blood and gore fest. Way to judge a book by its cover I guess. :/0rinEveryone whould read this (except for the spoiler and other story stuff) before playing Gow. Good job 0rin.
hahaha i dont think you know what the purpose of videogames areI hate playing any game where I have to do things that I wouldn't do in real life.

Kratos not warranting disgust... are we talking about the same guy who killed his wife and kid and wears their ashes on his body?I don't like Kratos either, but that doesn't mean the God of War franchise isn't great to play.
Also, while I did find Kratos to be completely overrated (particularly in the badass department), I wouldn't go so far as to say he was bad enough of warranting disgust. Now, Kane and Lynch were just repulsive.

Kratos needs a chill pill
You know what would make an awesome fight? Kratos vs. Alex Mercer. The hate in that room would be colossal!

Some games need to be played knowing that it's just going to be over-the-top. God of War is one of those games. It's based on freaking mythology, so you're bound to see some weird stuff. Plus, creative liberties aside, I think the developers set the right mood for the game.
Games now take a darker tone because of the stride toward realism. No one's perfect, and you're likely to see more and more choices in games that are in the gray of the moral spectrum. As for your so called "real heroes", there's still plenty of them. Master Chief, Ratchet and Clank, Link just to name a few.
Good games sell. God of War has solid gameplay and an interesting story to boot. That's reason enough, no?

I agree to the extent that Kratos is a real dickhead. I've hated his character ever since he rescued the ship captain from falling down the hydra's throat just to take his key and intentionally throw him backdown into it.
Well, I don't think it's fair to complain about Kratos being less than a role model - the designers intended it that way.
But it needs to be said that if Kratos he was a Dungeons and Dragons character, he'd be Chaotic Evil. He barely even qualifies as "anti-hero" - he's practically a villain protagonist.
I would describe him as such: A whiny psychopath.
Not to mention spitting in Athena's face after she made him into a god, which was the direct cause of Kratos' downfall.I agree to the extent that Kratos is a real dickhead. I've hated his character ever since he rescued the ship captain from falling down the hydra's throat just to take his key and intentionally throw him backdown into it.

And sending an army rampaging throughout Greece for no apparent reason. Multiple times. And gutting random people in the middle of Athens square. And killing the inhabitants of Hades. And killing his own family. And torching a defenseless soldier. And zapping another defenseless soldier. What else am I missing?I agree to the extent that Kratos is a real dickhead. I also really dislike kratos, ...to the point where I side with the other gods ...I dont know maybe Zeus might kill him in the end, hopefully, ...not certain though, coz, u know ...its Zeus, he can get a bit sloppy ....but if it was Kratos vs Odin! ....kratos would get owned so badly!

Sorry if I went off topic, I tend to take fictional characters too seriously,

Ragnarok. He got owned for all eternity. Man all gods are lame in the final days eh? ??? Washu/Odin/Zeus/Jesus everytime the final battle becomes more anti-lulz.
TC, you seem to be forgetting something. You're interpreting the character with the personality of a normal person. Kratos, is the GOD OF WAR. It is therefore implied and shown why this title was bestowed upon him after killing the previous GOW aka Ares. Knowing this, i thought it was very ingenious of the developers to stick to this personality instead of making him more "humanistic" as you may call it. Kratos is the personfication of hate, anger, and violence, all that is WAR. Now imagine if they portrayed the GOD OF WAR with a more normal attitude. Can you really call that person the personification of war? I don't think so.
