I have both systems and need to decide which one to buy this game on.

For some reason, I have a feeling that the PS3 controller might be better for this type of game.

I don't have a PSP so the interconnectivity with this game and the PSP is not relevant to me.

Thanks for any info.

Whichever controller you find more comfortable should be the final choice, really.

Not just screen tearing, FPS and crowds seem to be thinner on the PS3. I'd go with the 360...Also, install the game for better load times.

PS3 has more aliasing and framerate issues.

Assassin's Creed 2 look and play better on the XBOX360.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AWJ4EXeuQY

"In terms of engine quality, however, the difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions is literally night and day. Starting with the shocking difference in contrast and colour depth, the Xbox 360 version's high-dynamic range lighting is more intense and casts deeper shadows and renders a darker night. In our direct comparisons between the two games, the PS3 version looks noticeably flatter and more washed out, detracting from the ambience.

The PS3 version also suffers from a lower texture resolution, which affects everything from facial details (you can see freckles and pores on the 360, but faces, lips and hair looks almost universally blurry on PS3), to wall and ground textures, leaves and particle and debris effects."

The 360 version looks slightly better so I hear, but I'd say just get it on PS3 if you think you'll like using that controller more.

360 has some technical advantages, such as less screen tearing, higher FPS etc.

PS3 version plays well though, as it's the one I tried, however 360 version is slightly higher quality.

The difference is probably so small, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Seriously, you guys act like this is the Xbox version of a game vs a PS2 version where differences are actually noticeable. Maybe that's why I don't care much about the 360 version running slightly better.

360 should supposedly have better framerates and less screen tearing but it is by such a small margin that it hardly matters, so the deciding factors should rather be which controller you like the best and whether you like trophies or achievements

When I played on both systems I didn't notice the difference. Just get it on the console you enjoy the controller more on

"In the final analysis, it's fair to say that while Assassin's Creed II has a number of important advantages on Xbox 360, the crucial thing is that the improvements to the PS3 engine are such that the performance deficit isn't going to get in the way of having a great time. It's an essential game on both platforms, but if you've got both consoles, the 360 version is clearly the more solid performer."

The differences are there.

Thanks for the info so far.

I just found out that it's not too hard to get all the Ahievements/Trophies with this game and I prefer completing all Achievements/Trohpies for games on the PS3 since it gets you a Platinum Trophy (yes I know it's a little lame to care about this but for some reason, I really want to get a Platinum Trophy).

Plus as I mentioned I think the PS3 controller will be better for me with this game.

So I think I will get the PS3 version despite the apparant slight graphical edge on the 360.

Haven't decided for certain yet though - will decide by Wednesday when I pick it up.

Either way, this looks like the perfect game to focus on through the holidays!

Actually, for this type of game I think the controllers for the 360 and PS3 will be the same.

So really for me it's a choice between slightly better graphics/performance on the 360 and the ability to get a Platinum Trophy on the PS3.

I have got to stop caring so much about Trophies so I am going to go for the 360 version. I realize the graphical/performance difference is minimal, but all things being equal, it is making pick the 360 version.

That g4tv web video someone linked above was very convincing towards the end when the one guy talks about how he has the PS3 version and goes on a rant about how the 360 version is better in terms of graphics and performance.
