Just curious

I'm playing it on the PC and really like the game - been playing through it a bit co-op with a buddy and we're having a blast.

I've read reviews on the game which state numerous issues but wasn't sure if these were just console issues since I haven't read a review yet where the test platform was the PC.

I just got it for PC and it is horribly choppy, even on low settings. I've read that it has something to do with my AMD/ATI processor and graphics combo.

Ah that sucks - I'm using an ATI video card and it runs really smooth for me on max settings, but I do have the intel CPU. The guy I'm playing with said it runs really smooth for him as well but he's using Intel/Nvidia.

Yeah I have that problem. Inside I get a smooth 60 fps no matter what's going on, then outside it goes anywhere from 25-45 fps.

It got 7.8 on Metacritic which isn't nearly a terrible score. Also if you're enjoying the game why does it matter so much to you how it scored? Do the scores that you consider "terrible" spoil the game for you?

Just asking.

This should tell you just how bad this game needs a patch. It looks like I'm not the only one experiencing trouble with it. :|

What a surprise,an unfinished game and lazy Quality assurance (or w.e its called) team. We've seen this countless times, these patches and updates really made the devs unfinished and i hate unfinsihed games or buggy games,it even happened with quality devs (Like Insomniacs R&C:ACIT if they press challenge mode from the menu they'll be stuck forever until the patch was realeased a year ago).

I'm playing it on the Xbox 360 and I like it, though I just don't think this is a game for everyone. The reason I think this game fails critically is the same reason Lost Planet 2 did, this game doesn't have any single player component that works really well, but is a lot better as a multiplayer game; though that didn't save Lost Planet 2 as the criticism then was this game should have had a functional SP and MP mode not just a well made MP mode with a broken SP mode. I heard reviewers complain of late texture loads but that rarely happen and only kicks in at the beginning of a match or cutscene (if ever). There was a couple incidents of noticeable screen tearing the first couple minutes I played the game, I was worried at first that it'd carry on, but luckily I haven't experienced it ever since and I've played it a lot the last couple days. You pretty much have to play this online or there's very little to be enjoyed as playing with only bots isn't that fulfilling. Luckily the game is challenging enough for 8 player co-op, matchmaking works well The PS3 version won't be worth playing while PSN is down (again as it's not worth playing alone). I was worried about classes, like everyone would want to pick the soldier class and not having enough medics and operatives and engineers but from what I've played the online community is pretty balanced. Anyhow, why would it be the console versions that are bad? I doubt the PC version was more advanced like has environmental damage and a robust physics engine, probably just the same exact game with the capacity to be played at a higher resolution, faster frame rate, and sharper textures, plus keyboard and mouse; basically no different than any game that's on both PC and console. About the best looking thing about this game is the cutscenes which I'm to the point of skipping just to cut the gameplay. And the in-game graphics aren't something that really wows me as I play, I'm pretty much just fascinated by the challenge of the game itself. Customization isn't a big deal as you never really get that close to anything to really gander at it and you're in such a hurry all the time. There's no real need either to focus on your individual look since you never see yourself or look at anybody long enough anyways (though I find myself customizing my look regardless). Weapon models looks good and anything involving your hands like setting up a bomb to blow a door, weapons themselves aren't anything great though, everything has a firing rate that looses its ammo in seconds, minus a few weapons like the gatling gun that can fire for a while, you pick your weapons though by how well they work, how they stay stable, how fast they reload, their total capacity and damage. Probably better to think of this game as a shooter-RPG than just a shooter. The things you'll really want to focus customizing is the perks for your character classes, your characters body type like being light, medium or heavy, or the mods to your guns like sights or silencers or clips, extended clips, etc, as this will have more of an impact on your own gameplay performance. There's a sort of grind quality to this game like an RPG too to level up and be able to earn more perks. It kind of reminds me of Team Fortress 2 as far as the feel of the gameplay itself goes. Anyhow, I don't think Brink is terrible. It doesn't have that universal appeal that games like COD strive for, but I think it'll interest those that know what to expect from it, and I think the worst part about this game prior to launch was people not knowing what to expect from it. It's not the regular shooter that has the typical story SP or co-op campaign with an optional MP component, this game is pretty much designed to be a multiplayer game, people expecting anything different should not have picked this game up at all. I think this understanding probably explains why some reviewers were able to say they liked it knowing what the game was supposed to be, and other reviewers probably hated it for not knowing what this game was supposed to be, probably reviewed a PS3 version with no online.

I played it for about an hour and sent it back to Gamefly. Like APB, the customization of your character is better than the actual game.More importantly, it alerted me to the fact that I don't like multiplayer shooters anymore.

Most importantly, the game just isn't any fun.

Funny thing is...The engine this game uses is modified ID Tech 4,at barely 30fps while looking anything but hot.MW2 or BLOPS,that get so much slack, are running on modified ID Tech 3,at average 57 fps(360) and looking considarably better than this game...

Damn shame.Bad port is bad...

It seems to be pretty spotty on PC (especially for people with AMD/ATI GPUs), but less so than the console versions (well, version until PSN is back up, really).

In all honest opinion, after playing Brink I feel that had it been pc only it would have been something special, instead its released as clunky gameplay. I was hoping this would pull me away from tf2, but it wont.

Is anyone else getting a glitch where all the textures are broken up into squares? I tweaked my graphics software and now the game looks like futuristic Minecraft. lol Steam needs to get some patches in there pronto.

BRINK is simply amazing and a breath of fresh air.

One of the best online shooters this gen imo.

I have played about 18 hour of PC versino and 2 of xbox version. PC versino is defiantly alot better.

RIght nwo I would rate PC version 9/10 and xbox 8/10 or 7.5/10.

It honestly seems like the reviewer at gamepsot just copied and pasted the xbox review.

The only online games this gen that can compete with BRINK imo are TF2 and Bad Company2, Brinks is more enjoyable then Halo Reach, COD Black ops or MW2 by a long shot imo.

I've played it for a couple of hours and overall it's not bad, but there's better out there. There's little variety in the guns, they sound nearly identical, and at least on the 360 version, there is huge texture pop in. Again not a bad game, just I would rather play TF2 instead.

I keep trying to play it despite the bugs and horrible framerate dips, and I can honestly say that I'd probably enjoy it were it playable on my PC. As of now, all I can do with Brink is wait for a patch. :(

I have it. It seems as though it's a rough copy instead of a completed game. There are things that are clever and enjoyable, but there are other things that are highly frustrating. Some will hate it, some will love it. I don't hate it, but I do regret spending a full 60 on it. I'm trading it in towards L.A. Noire.

It has a ton of issues, but good ideas. The reviews were right. I've only played the Xbox 360 version though, returning it tomorrow though. I'm tired of playing on teams of bots versus teams of mostly real people, and then losing in the last minute to even last five seconds.

When it works. I, like many others, am still having the ATI issues. Does anyone know if there is another patch incoming anytime soon? This game seems like it could actually be a lot of fun if I could get it over 15fps.

The game itself is pretty meh overall. While there seems to be a really good design for the game in place, they weren't able to follow up with there being a lack of content and to many bugs.

This is the kinda crap I'm getting out of Brink. Looks like Minecraft from the future. Turns out the game wasn't properly optimized for the Radeon HD4xxx series graphics cards, so pretty much everybody running one gets 15fps and this funky grid glitch. :|

"Absolutely frustrating. You have to SQUEEZE the fun out of this game it comes by so rarely in tiny bursts, hardly worth the effort."

Pretty much somes up my thoughts about the game.

Um... What do you think I'm doing? There is no option to play co-op with bots versus people. That is what is happening. Occasionally I get one or two people on my team. There is just no one online. If you read what I said that would have been clear. There really is no choice, you are stuck with bots because there is no one to play with.
