Not at all. On top of great multiplats coming for the system, you have games like MGS4, GT5, FFXIII, God of War 3, Killzone 2, and bunch others.

The only question is "are you willing to spend $400 for a console with no AAAEs yet?".

it's alot riskier buying an 360 then a PS3 because 360s break alot more then PS3 but that is it.

Dreamcast didn't make it not because of poor sales but because SEGA was Broke, losing money on every Dreamcast AND poor sales ...

SONY is making $$$ overall ... PS3 sales are better than Dreamcast ...

Buying a PS3 is only risky if you like playing video games.

It will be around for a while and I'd consider buying a 360 more risky because sometimes they are DOA and you have to sit around with a $60 game(s) for a week or so with no console to play it on.Tiefster

OK, fine. If he wants to buy it, then go ahead. I was just saying that the 360 is all you need...and if he had a PS3 and not a 360, I would say the PS3 is all you need. You don't need both just for the small amount of exclusives, unless your loaded and can afford buying 400 dollar pieces of hardware for the hell of it.

Unless you have unlimited funds to spend on video games it's like $400 less to spend on x360 games if you buy a PS3. Being able (you must still buy them for $60 a pop) to play those exclusives vs $400 worth of x360 games, tough choice :roll:

Its risky buying it now but not risky after MGS releases next year because then you would know if you're actually missing on something good.

It is a risk, and I wouldn't get it. Get a Wii if you are on a spending spree of some sort, or buy the HD-DVD accessory to Xbox 360 if you dont' have it.

Buying a PS3 now would be like picking up a 3DO, Jaguar, or Saturn in 1996.

The only console thats a risky buy right now is the 360. Because it has 100% chance of failing but still the Wii is still a risky buy Sony's PS3 is here to stay. Sony is a multibillion dollar company.

Risky? Hmm, the hardware won't fail, it has free online, a Blu-ray player, enough games now to keep you busy until the cavalry finally arrives next year.

That logic only applies to "official hype", bud. In the real world these games weren't flops, and just because we choose to post here doesn't mean we need to discuss games as if Gamespot is the only site in the entire world.

There is White Knight Story, Folklore, Uncharted, MotorStorm, Resistance, R&C Future, Gran Turismo, Heavenly Sword, MGS4, MG Online, Killzone 2, Tekken 6, Warhawk, FFXIII, etc. Despite what a bunch of moronic 360 purists may think, there is a pretty good list of exclusives set for the PS3. So, no, having a 360 shouldn't make getting a PS3 pointless (referring to an earlier post since people post freaking insanely fast =P).

To the Original Poster: That said, fromjusta gaming standpoint,getting a PS3 blind (especially 40GB) isn't risky in general. PS3 doesn't have a reputation for breaking down, the console and its competition (Wii60) are getting closer in price point (mainly talking about 40GB PS3),and both have a large list of exclusives in the wake of dozens of shared multiplatform games. So in terms of buying a reliable product and expecting it to havesomething substantialto offer, the PS3 is going to do that.

Thus,the amount of "riskiness" toward gettingPS3 should be based pretty much entirely on how much the buyer is going to care about whichcontent is going tobeexclusivelyavailable onPS3 or otherconsoles,and perhaps whether or not the buyer would care about the Wii, because it also has unique games to play, and is the cheapest console.
