Is DICE worst AAA developer today?

I have been looking at some bad AAA developers and i look into DICE and find that today no one is worse than them. last year we witness star wars battlefront 2. it took insane amount of budget but it was panned by critics and gamers alike. not to mention first reboot by DICE failed. no need for sequel but they did.

then year before mirrors edge catalyst flop by both gamers and critics alike.

Battlefield games getting stale rehash after rehash and fans always disappointed when new game released or even beta version. even thought they are mostly MP developers but they always make SP and always failed at being.

looking at their track records im amazed that these guys still making games.

so my dear friends, do we agree that DICE are worst AAA developers Currently?

Battlefield is still the best MP FPS out there. So, no, I do not agree with your bullshit.

but even after they put lootbox and microtransaction in battlefront 2?

Visual Concepts (NBA 2K18?) I've never seen a game bomb that bad critically. But it still sold well, because people couldn't believe their eyes.

Nearly all of the Battlefield games have been absolute gems, and the Mirror's Edge series was both innovative and well-executed. They also develop the Frostbite engine/s, which are incredible in allowing great looking games and good optimization.

So no, I don't think they are the worst; like a bad owner with a good dog, unfortunately the dog is going to end up obeying the owner or following his lead.

*My vote goes to Activision; CoD is pure crap now. Over-budgeted, overproduced, repetitive release after release.

They became console-centric.... each battlefield seems to be more dumbed down than the last. Combined with being a typical puppet of EA and their practices.

in 2018 where across 3 platforms you can't break 100k players concurrent after only a few months, you known you've lost your edge.

They have a good engine, they are very good at presentation.... but they are aiming at a different market now... and struggling with it.

Yeah Dice sure hit rock bottom so hard, look what they did to Star Wars Battlefront 2. Dice is getting close to being on my shit list as it is.

They have to be up there. Anything EA touches gets ruined.

I played Battlefront 1 and the gameplay was horrible. Beautiful graphics and sound, but the most boring gameplay ever. I refuse to play BF2.

I tried Battlefield also, super boring, linear shooter. No thanks. Online gameplay sucks.

They really suck at making Star Wars games.

TF2 SP craps all over EA made including star wars, battlefield, mass effect andromeda, etc this generation.

Nah, DICE is still one of the best AAA devs out there when it comes to shooters. Their problem is EA.

Their games are good but EA always has to swoop in and pull of some anit-consumer bullshit.

SW Battlefront 2 is a good game if you ignore the stupid lootbox progression (that they are taking out next week, thank God).

I'm looking forward to BF5 announcement because even the worst DICE game still kicks the shit out of any COD game IMO.

@ghosts4ever: yeah, Mass Effect Andromeda was the most embarrassing AAA game I can ever remember. It was hilariously bad.

I mean, Rare still exists. In spite of Sea of Thieves (and wherever you find yourself on the quality continuum), Rare’s last moderately decent game was Kameo, which was still an 8 at best (I’m not counting their compilation).

There are a bunch of studios who are back-and-forth on overall design, but with laudable individual elements (Bungie, as an example).

It was definitely rushed. However, I played it months later after it had been patched on PC. It is not as good as the original trilogy, but I enjoyed it.

While I feel a knee-jerk reaction to check the hyperbole ladden rants that disproportionately overreact to things like good games with microtransactions, their games are fun regardless and they're no doubt very talented, but I gotta say, one thing that's particularly getting old, they're late getting on board introducing any PvE modes in their games. Battlefield 1 could definitely use it, as does Battlefront 2 (hell, even first game needed it). I'd like to enjoy these games sometimes by not needing to be in a super competitive mindset for strictly PvP content.

I think Ubisoft Montreal is probably the worst AAA developer right now. It has all been copy and paste for them since the original Assassin's Creed.

DICE doesn't make the Mass Effect games. You've got them mixed up with Bioware.

DICE make the Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield games.

The success of COD ruined DICE. I love BF: Bad Company 2, but COD was killing it in sells. So EA wanted to adopted some COD in their FPS instead of continuing to follow its own path.

God damn these rehash threads are hitting a new low.

Bioware and 343 are. But DICE isn't far behind these days. BF4 was a broken mess for almost a year after launch. Their Battlefront games are shit. And Battlefield 1 is the definition of casualized.

Definitely top-3 worst. But it's not their fault. EA is forcing them to turn their games into interactive casinos.

It's a shame because BF games used to be good.

DICE are good devs they're just stuck with a crappy publisher.

DICE games are incredibly well optimized for a wide range of PC hardware which you gotta give them props for that. I sometimes wish they could buy their freedom EA or a bunch of people leave and start their own studio.

Exactly. EA turns everything they touch to shit. Just look at what happened to SimCity, Dead Space, Mass Effect... the list goes on and on. EA gets some harebrained idea on how to milk gamers and things start going down the toilet for the studios under their wing that do it. That's why they're likely going to can BioWare after Anthem. And then Respawn will be next on the list of high-profile failures.

Never going to happen as MS owns the IP I believe, and that DICE was just the dev, so even if it were to be made it would be Xbox/PC only.

Pretty sure it's EA who destroys them. I think DICE is still capable of doing good games, but not under EA.

I still think it's good if DICE gets some flak as well. Might make them try to break free from EA's evil clutches.

No, Titanfall 2 SP wasn't good. The game's MP part shits all over it's SP.

And I don't think DICE flat out sucks. I think they're good, but EA puts in microtransactions and deadlines and whatnot that makes DICE not able to create the game that they could.

As much as it pains me to do, I would probably have to give that honor to bioware... they haven’t made a good game since DA2 imo and even that game wasn’t any gem... their latest entries have been absolutely shit and I have zero faith that anthem is going to turn out any better....

Its primarily SP game that EA market as MP game. each and every mission in SP is different from previous and my fav was time travel mission.

Yes. A studio's fvck ups in finance or perhaps publishers forcing it, doesn't negate the obvious talent and ability to develop a quality game. I don't like the pay 2 win shylocking being done but it doesn't mean the moment to moment game play developed is bad.

edit: NVM I was going to be more positive this year >_< It's tough to do so at times. DICE really needs to grab EA and shake them something fierce.
