my friend got E74 2 weeksbefore i did.I just got mine recently.I call microsoft and they said they will repair it for free :)

To my understanding, it is nowhere near as common as RRoD.IronBass

That's what happened to my launch console.

Managed to get MS to repair it for free.

One things for sure, it should be covered by the 3 year warranty.

this has nothing to do with overheating, or th gpu, E74 error is when the HANA scaler chip breaks down, i have never had one, but i think that's cos i don't have a hi def tele so i play on an old SDTV, so my 360 is never set to hi defdelta3074

i know a couple of people including myself that has gotten this while not playing on a HDtv.

I don't keep up with the technical stuff, I just want to play games on my 360 and enjoy my console.

When it comes to that story, remember Yahoo and Microsoft loathe each other and you can't trust the people who respond to a blog or post a blog.

yeah, and E74 conveniently isn't covered by the extended warranty. Coincidence, I'm sure.

Mine was 13 months and they wanted to charge me 149$ to fix E74 :(

It started to happen after that update awhile back for alot of people thats why.

Yep definitely been around for a while. My launch day Elite has been getting it since day one. It usually takes me three or four times of off and on to get the system to actually start. Then when it does start to boot up I get the error probably one out of five times. Its a hassle but once the system gets going it works fine for hours. I'm putting off sending it in until I get the rrod again, I'm pretty sure that's right around the corner judging by my graphical problems with RE 5 that are starting up.

That's what it looks like, remember my thread last year about this. Half of SW never heard of it, I guess I called that one.

The Idea is that E74 is covered for only One Year, giving M$ a break financially, even though E74 is the same problem, over heating.

In any event, I just want this to get nipped in the bud, that way we can talk more about games, darn it!(Plus, I want to be able to buy a new 360 when I get RROD/E74 this Xmas, and it be a top notch model)
