Is FFXIII hitting America in 2008 or not?

Seriously, Square has been ricocheting people's gazes back and forth betwwen 08' and 09'. And it's getting irritating.

ummmmm, i doubt anyone here knows because square hasn't told us yet......if you want a prediction i believe it will be out in time for the holidays (late 2008 )

It's possible,
they have said "simultanious world wide release" many times,
but, I'll believe it come in 2008 when I see it,

For now, games like FF13 and WKC, seem really far away, and definatly not coming in 2008 by any stretch of imagination

Maybe, but, level-5 have not dissapointed me yet with any entry,
the thing that concerns me is the "total customization" model for WKC,
since it's their first time doing something like that, it could be a disaster,
especially when compared to the WRPGs, where it's been the standard
for years.

It's being made by Level 5, I'll get my hopes up.

Highly unlikely. Its scheduled to release in Japan in late 08, and unless Square-Enix suddenly changes strategies and simultaneously records the Japanese and English scripts we won't see FFXIII released in markets outside of Japan until the first half of 09. I'm sure Sony is talking to Square-Enix about how they can speed up the translation/recording process, but I would say FFXIII is more likely to hit North America in Q2 2009.PBSnipes

They have given the concept of "simultanious worldwide release" quite a bit of lipservice with regards to FFXIII so IF it comes out anywhere in '08 I'd give it good odds of being everywhere.

Fable, NG and GEOW 2 just got a release date. Its very possible that in E3 these games could get release dates in 08. WKS I am sure will come out this year, FF maybe in Japan.

My opinion, it will come in 2009 UNLESS Sony is really hurting and needs a system selling game come 4th qtr.

If MGS4 fails to sell the amount of consoles everyone thinks it will, they might start getting MORE involved with Square (as far support) to speed up the developement of this game so it makes Nov 08. However if sales are at or beyond expectations (console wise), Square will release it March of next year.

Square said the 2008 rumors were false. They never gave any release date. By the looks of things: Not many screenshots or footage and very rare info I would say that it comes out 2009 in Japan and probably 2010 else where. I wouldn't be surprise if Square decides to release it on PC/360 since Crystal Tools works with both systems.

mid 2007 the game was reported to only be 12% complete so unless they hired double the people and have been working double over time every day of the year i dont see it happeninglinkin_guy109

yeah that being true still the hardest part in creating something is getting it started once you've created a story,character design, and gameplay idea which i believe to be about the 1st 20-30 percent of development then its all downhill from there. Its possible it will come out this year with Square being so hush hush about FFXIII and versus. Doubt it but it might in late 08.

I agree but I doubt you'll ever see that game anywhere else but on the ps3.

I could definitly see it coming out in Japan for Christmas because sony will be looking for a boost there, but it will hold of til 09 for the states since they already have a strong christmas 08 lineup.

I am disappointed tho, the FF name is a big reason why I got a PS3 and the suspense is killing me!!

I doubt they would since Final Fantasy sells more in Japan then in North America.....and seeing how 360 doesn't do well in japan. And they already attempted porting to PC before.

hmmm. let see... *shake* *shake* *shake* the 8 ball says don't count on it for 2008.

my guess would be some time march 2009 with it coming to NA some time in Nov. 2009
