Is Forza really as visually impressive as Gran Turismo?

I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of racing games, but back when I had a PS3 and XBOX 360, I tried out both Forza 3 (or 4?) and Grand Turismo 5: Prologue, and remember Forza not being nearly as visually impressive as GT5: Prologue. The interiors of the cars in Forza looked very, very fake, while those of the cars in GT5: Prologue looked photographic. The same goes for the environments and the exteriors of the cars.

So, I'd like to know whether anyone truly believes that the Forza series holds up to the Gran Turismo series visually?

I think visually GT has the slight upper-hand, But apart from that Forza humbled GT in every-other department this gen.Chrome-

honestly, you put them side by side during gameplay and you'll have a hard time telling which is which. People joke a lot about GT's 2D trees but Forza games have just as many. But what GT lacks in some texture here and there compared to Forza it makes it up with much superior lighting. That's why GT games always look slightly more realistic than Forza.

As already stated, the lighting in GT.  It just a more realistic look to it.

In terms of ultra realistic lighting, no.

Evo X in Forza 5.

Evo X in GT5.

Forza is not quite at GT's lighting level yet. they are getting there, but after seeing the teaser for PS4 GT.... PD seem to have raised the bar, grab it, and through it into orbit.

Just look at it.  GT7 is coming.

forza sucks visually but its a big accomplishment for MS to just do that.

Interms of IQ nothing beats GT... where they need to improve is the audio department.

Yes, it looks better. But you wouldn't really know there was a whole generation between them.

Forza 4 and GT5 look equaly impressive to me. Both handle 16 cars on screen at 60fps. Both have fantastic car models. I would say that GT5 has better looking interiors and Forza 4 has better looking environments.

Both games look very nice.

I can hardly tell the difference between them.

Foza has always had a certain look to it. Almost like they want it to look like a game.....

But I have played both Forza 4 and GT5 for hours and hours and I can confidently day Forza looks better. GT5 has the best looking cars (Premium cars) and better lighting. But GT5 is just boring. If they would speed up the menus. not making things like buying used cars a hassle, then GT5 would be at least competitive. It just isn't. The Forza series blows it away at this point.
Car cutomization and the way the single player modes are set up makes Forza the better game, never mind the stuff I already talked about.... And I am sure when GT6 comes out (So far it looks worse than 5), Cows will say how it is a better series than Forza even though Forza has moved on to the next gen.
Don't forget Forza Horizon....I think it is a completely different type of racer but since Cows always say "It is just Forza) I will count it here.....
Forza Horizon is better than Forza 4 and aside from a small downgrade in car models it is a way funner game than Forza 4.
Gran Turismo has no prayer at being better than Horizon......Not a prayer. 

I don't think Forza was ever visually impressive, but its a fun game. Forza could use some motion blur when traveling over 100 mph, and the lighting sucks.

Having seen both and judging from in-game, I simply find Forza more consistant across the board and a better overall looker. I do like GT's lighting though, it's very PGR4 which gives good sense of realism.

Although Horizon is 30fps, it is simply down right gorgous and the AA+FXAA lends to one of the cleanest console games I've seen period.
