No, I saw a breakdown once that showed the dominant genre by a wide marigin is Sports titles. Google it.donalbane

i can believe it, besides the big titles like Call of Duty and Halo, the average fps usually makes less or about the same money as the average sports game, and there's a lot more sports games out there that can make up the difference (especially since new iterations come out every year)

We've had a nice amount of quality shooters. So in a way yes the shooter genre has pumped out more "quality" games if we go by review scores. Personally? I think FPS games while dishing out quality have sort of played it way too safe at times. I mean a change in themes/aesthetic would be a plus. I'd kill for something like a No One Lives Forever esque game again. We also need more shooters taht are more loose if you get what I mean. The Bayonetta of shooters so to speak. Games that don't take themselves seriously and focus in on the fun. jg4xchamp

wii -is a mix of everything -truely one to own

ps3 - well you got your mgs folklure little big planet etc so i dont see that as shooter only

but yes from third party its almost always shooters

even on wii ,

you got condoit red steel moh cod quantum etc

i got19 fps games on my wii total-some are on rail and horror

and some are just quick fun games=elevator mission spygames - this isnt your ordinary fps ,

its arcade style it is similar to lethal enforcers but not onrails and elevator action in 3d

i d really jump for a 007 game again i beat quantum on wii and 360 , -even got 46 out of 50 achievments

Its dominant in USA where it seems to get a lot of media coverage. Heck, even Family Guy last night had MW2 in it.

These are my genres that no one can make me think otherwise. 1. Action Adventure, 2. RPG, 3. Sport, 4. RTS, 5. Shooter. Fighting games like Street Fighter are sport games. Motor sport games fall under sport.

Yeah, it's the one that gets the most attention and sells the most, but saying that "every game" this gen is a shooter requires some real ignorance of a lot of amazing titles...
