Its sad when i see wario ware outsell lost planet or i see cooking mama outsell metal gear : PO. Is gaming going down the toilet? Im sure these are all good games but when next gen comes out i dont want to be playing cooking games on the ps4 or x720. What do you guys think? Will hardcore struggle in the end, leaving only casual mini games left? Or will they coexist in harmony, like casual games will end up costing less than hardcore games. IE dlc vs. physical game. Im sure nintendo is good and they made a smart move but i feel like they totally screwed the system.

How is metal gear solid a hardcore game? You walk and wait until a guard goes away, if he does see you you shoot him hide him in a cupboard and get under a box.

A Hardcore game would be something more difficult and frustrating kind of like a so called gimmicky game Trauma centre

No gaming is being reborn, as Nintendo said it would be, it is transcending its humble origins and becoming something greater

There will probably be in increase in casual games throughout the years, but don;t expect the real gaming series to disappear anytime soon.

Yeah, it's going down the drain.
Like it was in the PS2 time.
And the PS1 time.
And the SNES time.
And the NES.
And on and on.

We're always saying that "gaming goes down the drain"... it's not. It's like it always has been. Casual games make most of the market ever since the Atari days. Hardcore gamers are always the small, vocal minority. Games with mass appeal will always beat technically superior or more expensive games designed for the hardcore.

Just... accept it, and enjoy your games. Nothing has changed, nothing will change. Plus, games like Gears of War, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Halo, and the ilk pretty much show that not only casual games are big moneymakers. So why should hardcore gamers be afraid? Because now there are so many games being released that the whole spectrum of game ideas is being developed?

It's just that Wii sells, when a big game hits Wii, it will sell, whether it's Wario Ware or Zelda. It's like with DS, Brain Age sold tons but so did Mario, it's cos they're both good games and both for DS.
